Role

The Cottage Family Centre was established in 1987. The focus of the work at the Centre is to provide a range of support to those families and individuals within family units who are vulnerable to social exclusion as a result of factors such as poverty, unemployment, poor housing, relationship breakdown, drug and alcohol problems and health related issues.

We are looking for an appropriately qualified and experienced counsellor to join our Therapeutic Service providing support to parents/carers who have often experienced multiple challenges and traumatic events in their lives. This support will include 1-1 open ended counselling as well as facilitation of a parent support group.

You will need to be self-motivated, with a positive and flexible approach and have a deep understanding of issues that affect individuals and families.

Our service is registered with the BACP and therefore you should be qualified to Diploma level and have a minimum of 3 years’ experience within a similar role and BACP/UKCP accreditation.

You will also be required to undertake monthly external support and supervision.

This post will be subject to a PVG check and 2 references will also be required.

This post is offered initially on a fixed term contract of 12 months.
