ACCOUNTABLE TO: Community & Partnership Manager, Engage Renfrewshire
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Driving improvement and change through awareness of, and access to, health and employment services available to the ethnic minority communities of Renfrewshire. Supporting community cohesion through cultural programmes including events and campaigns. Further developing the Integration Network for Renfrewshire
Renfrewshire is committed to finding ways of reducing inequalities and improving quality of life for our valued minority ethnic communities, through systemic change and cultural understanding.
The New Buddies Network Officer, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, will lead our programme and act as an integration conduit for Renfrewshire’s ethnic minority groups. The officer will deliver a programme to reduce barriers as described by our target communities, and improve the wellbeing of participants by increasing access to health and employability services. As part of Renfrewshire’s ongoing commitment to using culture as a means of improving life chances, the officer will also support codesign of and involvement in local cultural programmes. The New Buddies Officer will lead an approach that includes a commitment to developing strong sustained advocacy by empowering participants to act as local advocates themselves, for their growing communities.
The New Buddies Network Officer will be aware of the need to empower participants to build confidence, skills and trusted relationships with partners. This in turn will lead to meaningful codesign and participation in service delivery improvement, and thus increased levels of health and wellbeing.
