Role

About the Role:

Are you interested in joining an award-winning Scottish charity whose aim is to provide support to people whose lives are affected by mental health problems or illness? Support in Mind Scotland have a rare opening for a senior manager in the Highlands with a passion for improving the lives of people affected by mental ill-health, and their families and carers, through developing creative and person-centred services across the Highland Area.

We are seeking someone with vision and drive to work with us and people with lived experience to ensure that we continue to deliver exceptional services, drawing on our experience from across the country, and working collaboratively with partners from all sectors.

We have a strong values base; everything we do and say is based on the experience of the people we support, and we expect everyone who works with us to share this commitment to involving people in all aspects of our work.

We are also a membership organisation with over 800 members across Scotland, and we aim to uphold the rights of anyone living with poor mental health to have their voices heard nationally and locally to inform and influence policy and service development.

You will be responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership to a large team, providing support through a range of contracts, including the Distress Brief Intervention Service in Highland, Western Isles, Argyll and Bute and Dumfries and Galloway. We run a large outreach service registered with the Care Inspectorate and so you will bring experience of registration, and will be able to demonstrate a commitment to quality and excellence in service provision.

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will bring at least 3 years’ experience of managing services at senior level, including services registered with the Care Inspectorate, and will have a sound knowledge of mental health policy and practice.

Experienced in developing and sustaining partnerships with external stakeholders across all sectors you are an excellent communicator, confident in presenting the work we do to various audiences, and able to motivate staff across the area to take a leadership approach to their work; you ideally also have experience of working in or with the voluntary sector.

As the Highlands Area Manager, you will work with colleagues and partners across Scotland to raise awareness, challenge stigma and develop a solid evidence base for the work that we do.

As part of our National Management Team, you will be able to work collaboratively as part of that team to ensure that we deliver our strategy and achieve our outcomes.
