Role

This post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the work of The Welcoming Association and provide support for migrants and refugees in Edinburgh. The post holder will be responsible for managing the Welcoming Friendship befriending programme, which Henry Smith Improving Lives fund and Community Fund Scotland Improving Lives grants up until August 2022.

The Welcoming Friendship programme aims to help newcomers to Edinburgh make connections, develop friendships with local people, and assist with integrating into their new community.

The Befriending Manager will hold overall responsibility for the ‘Welcoming Friendship’ programme.

Please note that you must already be eligible to work in the UK to be employed by The Welcoming Association. The successful candidate must either hold a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) certificate for adults or be willing to obtain this within three months after commencement of employment.

The programme is currently in its third year, and it is funded until August 2022. However, as the Befriending Programme is one of our primary services, there is a high possibility of continuing beyond August 2022. Staff reporting to this post: Two permanent and up to 4 sessional workers. Reports to: Director of The Welcoming Association.
