Role

We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic individual to co-ordinate the inclusion work within the Options Aberdeen service. Aberlour recognises that some young people struggle to manage the challenges presented by being in a mainstream school environment. Our programme of inclusion work, involving bespoke therapeutic interventions, is focused on raising attainment and is designed to help the young people engage more effectively. You will lead the inclusion team in developing personalised support for the young people including helping the young people to develop self-regulatory skills, enabling them to better manage the demands of a formal learning environment in the future. We would expect that delivery of this personalised support will also ensure that Aberlour’s personalisation agenda is implemented. A full driving Licence is required as the role is carried out over 2 local authority areas of Aberdeen city and Aberdeenshire.

In conjunction with the Service Manager you will support the assessment, planning, delivery, evaluation and ongoing reporting of the inclusion services ensuring that service based outputs are met.

As an important element of the role is to develop personalised support, you will contribute to skill matching individual team members with the young people ensuring compatibility whilst maintaining appropriate staffing levels. Working in partnership with relevant stakeholders you will seek to achieve improved outcomes for the young people.

High standards in record keeping are essential as ongoing evidence of the work carried out and also to inform reports for relevant stakeholders. Written communication skills and an ability to learn how to make the most effective use of Aberlour’s recording system, Dynamics, are therefore a key requirement of whoever is appointed.

The Inclusion Co-ordinator role is pivotal with a responsibility to develop professional and collaborative working relationships with external agencies and representing the service at multi-agency meetings.

Liaising with the Service Manager you will ensure the necessary resources are available for the inclusion team and progress opportunities for developing inclusion service provision within Aberdeen city and Aberdeenshire.
