Family Development Worker

  • £12,500 - 17.5 hours per week. Fixed Term to November 2022 initially.

Role

This position entails assessing the needs of families and local residents and planning and delivering programmes related to these. This work will take place in the community of Milton, in North Glasgow. Through participating in these programmes, parents/family members will have increased confidence and self-esteem and have a better outlook for their own and their children’s future.

Job Purpose:

  • To provide support to families which will seek to?
  • Improve parenting capacity.
  • Improve family function with children feeling more secure and parents more confident in their parenting abilities.
  • Increase aspirations and motivation of families and individuals to take up opportunities.
  • To work in partnership with families and individuals to plan, implement and co-ordinate programmes to improve outcomes for all stakeholders.

Key activities:

  1. To deliver and evaluate the impact of parenting programmes/courses to parents and carers in community based premises.
  2. To support individual pieces of Family Support in the home and/or centre and hold a caseload of families.
  3. To attend safeguarding core groups meetings and case conferences, as and when required.
  4. To signpost and refer parents and carers to other services for specific support and expertise.
  5. To work and liaise with a range of partnership agencies and organisations, both locally and city-wide. This will include social work, education, and health amongst many other local and city-wide agencies and organisations.

The general duties will include:

  • Ensuring that adequate records and reports are compiled and kept up to date.
  • Carrying out projects and assignments as required.
  • Ensuring that confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Undertaking other duties as required.
  • Providing and receiving support and supervision on a regular basis.
