Glasgow and Clyde Rape Crisis provides support and advocacy services to women and girls from age 13 years who are survivors of any form of sexual violence, abuse or sexual exploitation, no matter when this has happened in their lives. We are part of a national network of rape crisis centres, and connect with a range of partnerships locally and nationally to both deliver services, and to influence policy and practice in this area. Our funding comes from a range of central and local government funds as well as to a lesser extent some trusts and grants.
We have a gendered definition of all forms of violence against women and girls and this is reflected in our work and in all our policies and protocols. The charity delivers a range of discrete services including prevention and education work. We have specific programmes for BAME women, and also provide support for women as they engage in the criminal justice system.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the organisation as its Director, to lead the organisation in its next period of change and transformation, necessitated by our learning from the pandemic, and the conclusions of an organisational review last year. Following the retirement of our Centre Manager, we have had the benefit of some interim leadership support to begin to reset our strategy, and our approach to services. We are now looking to appoint the permanent and substantive post of Director to lead the organisation in its next exciting phase of development.
Our posts are open to women only applicants as we are a woman only service, covered by the occupational requirement exemption under the Equality Act 2010.
We are looking for a leader who can fully articulate our values, and our fundamental belief that violence against women and girls has at its root, the unjust imbalance of power between men and women, and that this reflects deep rooted and structural inequality in our society.
The successful candidate will have experience of leading an organisation where standards of care, and person-centred approaches are paramount. You will be an exceptional relationship builder and be able to attract funding and develop partnerships that will sustain Glasgow and Clyde Rape Crisis. As a leader, you will have experience of building teams, and supporting change, with a leadership style that promotes empowerment, and values the contribution of others.
The post is Glasgow based in our city centre premises, but some staff are currently working from home, some or all of the time. The expectation is that a return to full office-based working will be achieved as Covid restrictions are eased. Some travel around the City of Glasgow and surrounding local authority areas might be necessary.
