Edinburgh Napier University is host to the HUB for SUCCESS, an Edinburgh based collaborative, working together to support children, young people and adults with Care-Experience to get in, stay in, or return to Education.
We are looking to hire a Hub Development Manager (Operations) to take responsibility for the delivery of the core aims of the regional Hub: to inspire, encourage and support people with experience of care to pursue post-school educational opportunities.
About Us
The HUB is a specialist service providing 1 to 1 support to children, young people and adults who are care-experienced and who are considering further and higher education. The HUB is committed to putting care-experienced people at the front and centre of all they do. The HUB also plays a role in raising awareness of the unique challenges those with care experience face - working together with the Statutory sector, 3rd Sector and our partner institutions.
The Opportunity
As Hub Manager you will provide a responsive and accessible service for users; ensuring high quality standards are met throughout all aspects of delivery and that the needs of care-experienced service users remain at the centre of all activity. This is a 12 month fixed term contract opportunity and the successful candidate will be based off-campus at a city centre location.
Working in collaboration with the Hub Partners, your own network and a range of care experienced contacts, you will develop innovative programmes and events to inspire, encourage and support care-experienced people to pursue post-school educational opportunities.
Who we are looking for
You will be degree qualified (or equivalent experience) ideally with postgraduate or professional qualification in education or social work. You will have a sound knowledge and understanding of the care sector and challenges faced by care experienced people, in particular regarding accessing further and higher education. We would expect you to have experience of working with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and/or hard-to-reach groups. You will have strong project management skills and the ability to engage and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders. You will be able to evidence a clear commitment to social inclusion and equality with knowledge of the policies within which Further and Higher Education providers in Scotland operate.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are paramount for this role as well as well-developed ability to listen effectively in different contexts including when engaging with service users and stakeholders.
Ideally we would like someone to be able to start in July 2021.
How will we reward you?
In return, we offer a great working environment where we support ambition, recognise achievement and offer an attractive benefits package. This includes a minimum of 36 days annual leave (includes bank holidays), a generous pension scheme, professional development opportunities and a wide range of staff discounts.
