Our Glasgow Secondary Schools Counselling Service is looking for a Practice Manager to oversee the operational delivery of our new, exciting high-quality, school based professional counselling service in Glasgow. The service will, through delivery of evidence based programmes and counselling provide effective intervention, management of cases and assessment of needs, ensure safe care and agreed positive outcomes with secondary school children aged 12-18yrs. Our service will cover all secondary schools in Glasgow City Council (30+).
The Practice Manager will oversee, deliver, and manage the service through a team of professional Counsellors and Support Workers providing professional practice and operational/management supervision utilising Action for Children's and other recognised professional standards and procedures to enable the achievement of positive outcomes for children, young people and their families. Ideally your background will include new service delivery at an operational level alongside experience of staff management.
You will make a difference by:
- Taking responsibility for the delivery of a high-quality services, in accordance with service requirements applying relevant legislation, regulations and Action for Children policies and procedures.
- Leading and managing a team (including case management supervision) of professional Counsellors and Support Workers also applying advice and guidance and utilising Action for Children's policies and procedures, to provide a responsive, high-quality, customer and outcome-focused service to children, young people, their families and partner agencies.
- Take responsibility for work auditing, ensuring systems are in place and regularly applied to support service compliance, employee and contract development and the production of regular reports and service developments and improvements based on feedback.
- Attend meetings with external agencies, representing Action for Children, demonstrating professionalism and our core values, in terms of approach, advice and positioning.
You will need:
- A recognised qualification in a related field (e.g. Mental Health, Children and Young People, Education, Counselling) and registration with BACP or equivalent body.
- Experience of working within a multi-agency social care, schools, early years or health environment and applying safeguarding procedures.
- Experiencing of co-ordinating service delivery.
- Experience of chairing/attending multi agency and strategic management meetings.
- Proven ability to manage and supervise professional and support staff.
- Proven experience of managing HR issues.
- Demonstrable experience of leading a team to achieve the best outcomes for children, young people, parents, and carers.
- Knowledge of the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences, attachment, child development and safeguarding.

You will have knowledge of the current Scottish political system at a national and local level with awareness of social justice and anti-poverty policy in Scotland and children and young people’s rights such as the UNCRC and The Promise. You will have experience working in the third sector along with skills in research and analysis.
