Role
We are seeking an Independent Advocacy Worker to provide independent advocacy throughout Perth and Kinross to people who are vulnerable through disability, illness or life circumstances.
The post holder must have experience of, or interest in, supporting and advocating for others. It is essential they are committed to: a rights based approach; Human Rights; Social Justice and the Principles, Standards & Code of Best Practice for Independent Advocacy.
The successful candidate must be able to work as an individual as well as part of a team, with excellent communication and IT skills. The post is considered regulated work so is subject to membership of the PVG scheme.
Use of a car is essential as this post covers the whole of Perth & Kinross.

As the Executive Officer at Forth Valley Advocacy you will join us at an exciting time in our development as we continue to deliver a recently extended contract for Independent Advocacy services in the Forth Valley area, currently extended until October 2024 with the option of extension to October 2025. This is a crucial post which will allow Forth Valley Advocacy to continue to provide high quality and person led Independent Advocacy services across the Forth Valley area.
As the Executive Officer, you will manage a team of energetic and enthusiastic Advocacy Workers, Team leader and Service Adminstrator. You will build strong partnerships with our funders, our referrers, external organisation, local communities and our colleagues in the NHS and Local Authorities. You will be the public face of Forth Valley Advocacy.
You will report and be accountable to the Chair and the Board of Trustees.
You will bring enthusiasm and leadership skills to the organisation during this exciting period of growth.
At present our office base is in Falkirk but hybrid working arrangements are in place, allowing for some working from home.
The Rape & Sexual Abuse Centre Perth & Kinross are looking for a highly motivated and committed worker with experience of providing therapeutic support to join our team. This post involves the provision of therapeutic support, information and advocacy services for survivors age 12+ and their family members. Experience of delivering emotional therapeutic, practical support and advocacy services to women and/ young people affected by trauma is essential, alongside experience of assessing and responding to risk in relation to sexual abuse and exploitation. RASAC P&K welcome applications from women of all backgrounds and identities, in particular women of colour and those underrepresented in the workforce. Are you a creative and motivated individual with the passion and drive to support people with a recent diagnosis of dementia to live well in their community?
If so, you can be part of a National Team of Post Diagnostic Support Link Workers (PDS Link Workers) providing high-quality, person-centred support to people living with dementia and their families for a minimum of a year following diagnosis in line the Scottish Government’s minimum guarantee.
The aim of the PDS National Service is to enable people to live well with dementia and is centred around Alzheimer Scotland's 5 pillar model so that people move on to a period of supported self- management.
The model includes understanding the illness and coming to terms with the diagnosis, peer support, connecting and maintaining links with their community along with planning for future care and decision making to develop an outcome focused plan to support their future hopes, desires and aspirations.
Supporting our Perth locality, the post will be based within the North Perthshire Community Mental Health Team. Alzheimer Scotland’s PDS Link Workers are required to be effective team workers and have the skills to build and maintain relationships with colleagues both within Alzheimer Scotland, the NHS and other stakeholders.
Skills in using digital platforms are essential as we use a blended approach to support people that involve some virtual meetings and on-line groups.
Applicants must hold a recognised relevant professional qualification, have a good understanding of dementia and how it affects people and their families along with excellent communication skills, a warm flexible approach, combined with skills in empathy and relationship building.
In addition, you should have skills and knowledge at the Enhanced Level of the Promoting Excellence Framework or be able to evidence you are working towards its completion.
This post requires a full driving license and access to a car.

Main Job Activities
1. To be a subject expert:
Understanding the rules, laws and regulations within the relevant subject area.
Review and highlight key information to colleagues from relevant literature, journals, and reports.
Identify areas of improvement for the organisation’s advice service, working with colleagues to implement strategic development plans.
Support relevant marketing and media activities.
2. To influence the operational processes associated with the relevant subject area:
Identifying and implementing key improvements across both advisor and customer journeys.
Strong depth of understanding related to enquiry patterns and trends.
Planning and horizon scanning to provide the most up-to-date information for our advisors.
3. Identify and develop collaborative partnerships with stakeholders within the subject area:
Partnership working with organisations we are currently engaged with, in addition to establishing possible new partnership opportunities with those we are not.
Monitoring, understanding, and responding to external consultations and changes within the relevant subject area.
4. Prepare and brief both senior colleagues and external stakeholders as required:
Regular development of reports and written briefings.
Inform and collaborate with our internal training department to influence training content.
Support advisory staff when required, providing subject specific guidance.
5. To undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by Line Manager.
