SAMH are currently looking to recruit a motivated and energetic Team Leader for the Gateways service which supports local people within the Inverclyde area to improve their health and wellbeing.

SAMH Gateways service is a Community Engagement model of service which focusses on recovery and principles of social inclusion. The service enables and facilitates people to access a range of community resources and services, positively encouraging people to develop community connections to build and sustain support networks. The service delivers self-management programmes on a one to one or group basis, involving therapeutic approaches to develop a person’s resilience and improve their mental health and wellbeing.

The Team Leader will manage a small team of staff and provide positive leadership and management in order to demonstrate and achieve service outcomes including a responsibility for:

  • Assess and co-ordinate referrals, progress reviews and exit process
  • Ensure support to people referred is recovery focussed, person centred and promotes informed choice and decision making, enabling people to take control of their lives.
  • Provide leadership, direction and performance management to develop and mentor Facilitation staff.
  • Responsible for monitoring and recording of outcomes and maintaining relevant monitoring systems.
  • Establish effective and positive working relationships within the community, stakeholders and partners to support the delivery of the service.

There is a requirement to participate in the management on-call rota out with working times. We are open to discussing flexible/remote working, with some travel required to the Inverclyde office when restrictions ease.

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to make a difference to people and support them to achieve identified outcomes. You will need excellent communication skills but also patience, resilience, self-awareness and compassion. It is desirable to have knowledge of mental health issues and an understanding of the barriers and challenges this may present for people to successfully engage and sustain activities in their community.
