Barnardo's Rights and Advocacy service has been established in Fife for over 15 years. After a recent successful recommissioning process, from April 1st 2021, Barnardo's Children's Rights and Advocacy service will continue to provide all Rights and Advocacy work for children and young people in Fife. As a result of this process, the service is looking to expand the team to meet the requirements in the new service brief.
The service is looking to employ 2 Project Workers to continue the Rights/Advocacy work that it currently undertakes. This involves ensuring that the rights of Looked After Children are adhered to in decision making forums like Children's Hearings and LAC reviews. It also involves advocating on behalf of children and young people at these meetings. You will also be required to support the development of the Participation and Engagement aspect of the service brief which may involve some groupwork or gathering the views of children and young people.
You will have a passion for Children's Rights and Advocacy work and ideally some experience in this area would be helpful. An understanding of the legal frameworks and systems involved with Looked After Children would be advantageous.
At Barnardo's we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. Our safer recruitment processes mean that the safety and welfare of the child is paramount at every stage of the process and therefore, we adopt rigorous scrutiny in our pre-employment checking. This post is subject to a range of pre-employment checks including a Criminal Records Enhanced Disclosure for the successful candidate.
