Glasgow and Clyde Rape Crisis provides support and advocacy services to women and girls from age 13 years who are survivors of any form of sexual violence, abuse or sexual exploitation, no matter when this has happened in their lives. We connect with a range of partnerships locally and nationally and are part of the national network of rape crisis services across Scotland. Our funding comes from a range of central and local government funds and trusts and grants.
We have a gendered definition of all forms of violence against women and girls and this is reflected in our work and in all our policies and protocols. The charity delivers a range of discrete services across prevention and education, as well as core services, and advocacy to enable women to be supported through the criminal justice system, and to navigate available services.
We are currently in a period of exciting change and growth in the organisation, and are looking to recruit 2 Support Workers, as well as identify candidates who could form part of a waiting list for future opportunities later in the year. Our posts are open to women only applicants as we are a woman only service, covered by the occupational requirement at Section 9, Part I of the Equality Act 2010.
The posts are for a fixed term until September 2021, but we are hoping that the posts will be able to be extended beyond this date, subject to satisfactory performance in post and if funding becomes available.
We are looking for women with a commitment to our values and who have the right skills and aptitudes to fit into the organisation. Whilst experience of delivering services to those who have experienced sexual violence is desirable, this is not essential as training will be given. What matters is a real commitment to supporting women, and to creating relationships that enable women to survive abuse, and lead fulfilling lives. We are particularly interested in women who have experience in mental health, advocacy, homelessness, substance use or criminal justice services but are looking to bring their experience into a new field.
The posts are Glasgow based in our city centre premises, but some staff are currently working from home some or all of the time. The expectation is that a return to full office-based working will be achieved as Covid restrictions are eased. Some travel around the City of Glasgow and surrounding local authority areas might be necessary. Successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced disclosure check before working for us.
