SAMH has represented the voice of people most affected by mental health problems in Scotland for more than 90 years.
Today, in over 60 communities we work with adults and young people providing mental health social care support, services in primary care, schools and further education, among others. These services together with our national programme work in See Me, respectme, suicide prevention and active living; inform our policy and campaign work to influence positive social change.

The Physical Activity Partnership & Development Co-ordinator will play a key role in the delivery and development of SAMH’s partnership with sportscotland to develop and deliver learning and development sessions which aim to increase knowledge and awareness of mental health, to remove stigma and discrimination and support Physical Activity & Sport communities in their understanding of the impact of physical activity and sport on our mental health and wellbeing. The Co-ordinator will help to build capacity across the sportscotland staff, active school coordinators, sport governing bodies and those interacting with groups of various ages, genders, and needs, including children and young people, to support engagement and participation levels within Physical Activity & Sport community.
The Development Co-ordinator will work collaboratively with staff, and key stakeholders to develop and deliver a diverse training programme in line with identified outcomes, tailored to meet the needs of the different groups. The programme will have a particular emphasis on supporting key sportscotland staff and key stakeholders to support their understanding of mental health and wellbeing and how this relates within a physical activity and sports context.
The role will also focus on opportunities to develop new mental health and physical activity models to showcase the positive role of physical activity and sport on our mental health. The Coordinator will also develop robust monitoring and evaluation processes, in partnership with the Physical Activity & Sport Development Manager and sportscotland.
The Development Co-ordinator will be based within SAMH main offices, either Edinburgh or Glasgow once COVID- 19 restrictions are lifted.

You will be a self-starter, enjoy building new relationships and have an energetic approach to promoting the programme.
