Role

Come and join our fantastic team at Scottish Families!

We have secured funding from the National Lottery Community Fund through the Young Start programme to establish a new Support Assistant post to join our Routes young person’s project working across East and West Dunbartonshire.

This new post will co-develop, deliver, support and promote a range of support and engagement for young people (aged 12-26) who are affected by someone else’s substance use. The post will operate in across East & West Dunbartonshire.

The post-holder will work alongside the existing Routes team, helping to ensure the smooth running of the project. Tasks vary each day but include ensuring the young people have transport to and from activities, facilitating groups and building trusting and empowering relationships with the young people we support.

We are seeking applicants with relevant experience of working with vulnerable young people individually and in groups. You must have knowledge of the issues some young people face growing up in a home affected by substance use and be understanding and sensitive to the challenges that may bring to both the young people and their families.

The post is located in East and West Dunbartonshire and has an area-wide remit involving significant travel throughout the area and some to our offices in Glasgow. Due to the nature of this post, access to a car is essential. It is expected that the post holder will be required to work some evenings and occasional weekends. This post will be part of Scottish Families’ staff team and be supervised by the Senior Family Support Development Officer – Young People.
