In this varied and exciting, new role, you will lead a Carers Support Service with the aim of supporting Mental Health Carers and contribute to research on the provision of Carers support. The ideal candidate will have experience of supporting carers, mental health support and managing staff; and will have a basic understanding of research work.

We are recruiting 2 Post Diagnostic Dementia Link Workers to be based in Crown House, Greenock, working as part of the multi-disciplinary Older Peoples Mental Health Team in Inverclyde.

The Dementia Link Worker provides Post Diagnostic Support for people who have received a diagnosis of Dementia. You will work with individuals and their families for a minimum of a year, providing flexible and proactive advice, information and support around aspects which will enable them to live well with Dementia for as long as possible.

Inverclyde was chosen as the implementation site for the Dementia Care Coordination project. The Post Diagnostic Support Link Workers will support developments and improvements in local service provision.

The successful applicant will have a recognised professional qualification in social care, social work, nursing, occupational therapy, community work, counselling or other related occupations to a minimum of SVQ Level 3 or Nursing grade 5.

Full driving licence and access to a vehicle during working time essential.

SAMH’s Peer Support Service introduces a new approach to working with people living in North Lanarkshire experiencing and recovering from mental health issues; focusing on individuals’ recovery through self-management and accessing naturally occurring resources in their communities.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Peer Support Worker, with appropriate skills experience and motivation who have their own lived experience of mental health issues and personal recovery.

The central aspect of the Peer Support Workers’ role will be developing effective and mutually empowering relationships with individuals. The relationship which will be negotiated by both parties will have a clearly stated focus and reason. Peer Support Workers will share their personal experiences in an intentional and professional way to empower individuals, instil confidence, trust and hope. Facilitated Group Work will also form a central aspect of the Peer Support Service and experience of using social media platforms is essential. You will be required to support service users to self manage their mental health. As this post will involve travel across various locations access to your own transport is desirable.

A PVG check is required for this post, along with a Right to Work in the UK check. Candidates will also be required to provide proof of qualifications declared on the application form
