Turning Point Scotland North East Edinburgh Recovery Services provides recovery focused psychosocial interventions to adults experiencing drug and alcohol-related issues across North East Edinburgh.

We work within a hub model with partners, including NHS Lothian, CEC Social Work and other voluntary agencies to ensure individualised packages of care to enable service users to achieve their recovery goals.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team at the Leith Hub 5 Links Place Edinburgh EH6 7EZ.

You will be providing the high-quality delivery of 1:1 and group recovery focused interventions to those we support. The services are delivered from our main offices and on an outreach basis in pharmacies GP surgery and at client's home where required.

Please note all staff are expected to be able to work across both Leith and Craigmillar sites when required.

As a busy established recovery hub we are seeking candidates who already have some knowledge of drug and alcohol harm reduction and treatment options and can demonstrate experience working with this client group.

Main duties and responsibilities

Support to people who use services - To:

• provide support and assistance to people who we support in accordance with their support plans and service aims.
• be responsible for undertaking initial and on-going assessments of people who we support.
• advise people who we support in accordance with service aims.
• be a key worker for a person or people who have complex or multiple needs or oversee keyworking.
• maintain professional confidentiality and boundaries at all times.
• support and assist people who we support in crisis situations, and/or manage physical risk or behaviour likely to cause incidents, in accordance with the support plan or service protocol.
• travel within the service area you are contracted for and supporting the travel and transportation of people who we support in accordance with their support plan (mobility, own car, service vehicles, public transport etc).
• have an good understanding of the causes and effects of social exclusion as is relevant to the service and area in which you work.

“Have you got room in your home and heart to foster a teenager?” is the question posed by Room4U, Scotland’s newest fostering agency.

Room4U teenage fostering service provides high quality full time and short break foster placements for teenagers and young parents and babies accommodated by local authorities in South East Scotland.

We are looking for couples and single people willing and able to:

• Offer a full time home to a young person aged 12+ or a young parent and their baby; or
• Offer short term breaks to these young people and, where applicable, their babies.

Foster carers come from a wide variety of backgrounds and walks of life. Foster carers can be young or more mature, have children or be childless, employed or unemployed, home owners or renters. Foster carers come from different ethnic backgrounds and have a variety of faiths or none. Room4U foster carers will be people who:

• Have already enjoyed caring for teenagers at home or work or in a voluntary capacity;
• Enjoy working as part of a team;
• Can be flexible, able to negotiate and compromise;
• Are calm, tolerant, energetic, resourceful and resilient
• Have a spare bedroom for sole use of a teenager or a parent and baby;
• Live within 30 miles of the City of Edinburgh boundary.

Room4U foster carers benefit from being part of a well-established organisation and will access support from our staff team as well as an extensive training programme. Foster carers will benefit from generous weekly fees and allowances.

Although Room4U is new, we are part of one of the oldest child care organisation in Scotland, the Dean and Cauvin Young People’s Trust, which has been in existence since 1733. Room4U brings a wealth of knowledge and experience of adolescents and young parents and babies to the fostering service.

Foster carers are self employed and will not be employees of the Trust.

The successful candidate for this position must have significant experience of working with children and young people and of building and leading a team. We are looking for someone who has good understanding and experience of the therapeutic benefits of play and either experience of working with bereaved children or skills that are transferable to bereavement support.

Richmond’s Hope will provide a comprehensive induction programme which will include training in the methodology of Richmond’s Hope. As Team Leader (Bereavement Support) you will carry out supervision, support and training for our Bereavement Support Workers based across Central Scotland. Working as part of the Management Team of Richmond’s Hope you will be responsible for building the support team, supporting and enabling them in the work with bereaved children. You may also carry a small caseload of children seeking support.

Applicants should have enthusiasm and vision for the work of the organisation, excellent interpersonal and leadership skills and be able to work as part of a team.

A driving licence and use of car is desirable
