Role
Women’s Aid East and Midlothian (WAEML) aims to empower women until all women, children and young people are free and safe from domestic abuse. We are currently seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of volunteer trustees as we enter an exciting new phase of growth and development.
The Treasurer is a key office bearer who will help to strengthen our existing finance team. We’re looking for a creative and innovative feminist who can add to the skills mix of our current trustees, share our core values, have a passion for women’s and children’s rights and uphold our commitment to equality, inclusion and opportunity for all. The Treasurer will have an accountancy/finance background and experience of the charity sector and/or strategic planning would also be desirable.
We are keen to improve the diversity of our Board and particularly welcome applications from women in black and ethnic minority and /or disability communities.

Established in 1978, Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre (ERCC) provides a specialist support, information and advocacy service for women, non-binary people, members of the trans community and young people aged 12 and over in Edinburgh, East and Midlothian who have experienced recent or historic sexual violence, including rape, sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse and commercial sexual exploitation. We also work in schools and with young people across Edinburgh and the Lothians, and strategically with multi-agency partners, towards preventing sexual violence.
We are looking for a principled and experienced Chief Executive Officer to lead ERCC’s skilled and dynamic team, and work collaboratively with our Board of Directors to deliver the organisation’s strategic plan and objectives.
You will be an experienced senior manager with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and have a track record in strategic planning, people management, fundraising and charity finance management, and successful multi-agency partnership work.
You will have a clear understanding of and commitment to trauma-informed, feminist management and leadership, incorporating principles of anti-racism, trans inclusion, equality and anti-discriminatory practice.

External Affairs Officer

The Role
Scottish Women’s Aid is excited to recruit for maternity cover for our External Affairs Officer. The role holder plays an essential part in the continued development and delivery of key messaging for SWA, increasing awareness of the organisation and ensuring our core values are reflected in all our communications.
The Organisation
Scottish Women’s Aid is Scotland’s leading voluntary sector organisation working to prevent domestic abuse and promote effective policy and practice responses for women, children and young people who experience domestic abuse. We are the umbrella organisation for 36 autonomous Women’s Aid groups delivering direct services to women, children, and young people across Scotland.
What You’ll Do
The External Affairs Officer will develop and support effective media relationships to ensure awareness and understanding of SWA to a wide target audience. You will create meaningful dialogue with appropriate stakeholders, responding to media enquiries and drafting briefing notes, articles and web content aligned to SWA’s core values and strategic priorities.
What We Need
The successful candidate will have substantial communications experience in a similar role, ideally with a sound understanding of parliamentary, political and policy processes. You will have the confidence, skills and proficiency to quickly add value to the role and organisation, alongside excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to translate complex information for appropriate media use. A sound understanding of social media, website, and content management systems, as well as impact evaluation and measurement, is essential for success in this position.
We’re looking for someone who has
• A proven track record of delivering on external affairs strategy in a similar organisational context
• A well-established comms network that supports effective partnership working with the media as well as political and parliamentary stakeholders
• A sound knowledge and understanding of the ethical considerations associated with media and communications
• The ability to manage communications in relation to external projects and services
• A positive track record of working to support colleagues with local and national campaign priorities
• Knowledge of communicating a gendered message and understanding of the issues relating to violence against women
• Experience of a range of software such as Mailchimp, Drupal, Survey Monkey, MS Office
Duty Crisis Support Worker (office based)

The role of the Duty Crisis Support Worker is to provide a confidential, safe and supportive information service to women and agencies who contact EWA through the crisis phone line and/or ‘drop in’ service, and where appropriate to also assess women, and any accompanying children who are affected by domestic abuse, for refuge accommodation. The role will be based in the EWA office in Stockbridge, Edinburgh.
Candidates are required to have the following:
· Professional Development Award in Domestic Abuse Advocacy (IDAA/IDVA),or a recognised qualification Social Work, Community Education or SVQ3 Health and Social Care or higher.
· Ability to register as a Housing Support worker with the SSSC.
· Adult and Child PVG scheme membership will be required.
· Clean Driving Licence.
Senior Shift Support Worker 24 hr Refuge

To support the provision of a safe, professional and supportive service for women across the Women’s Support Service, who have experienced or are at risk of domestic abuse
The ability to to register as a supervisor with the SSSC, and Adult and Child PVG scheme membership will be required.
