Role
The overarching aims of this post are that
- Women have increased financial independence (access to economic resources, education, paid labour market, routes out of poverty).
- Services supporting women experiencing domestic abuse have increased knowledge, resources and confidence to respond to their employment and educational support needs.
- Services are better connected to local and national employability supports.
The post holder will work with Edinburgh Women’s Aid and Shakti Women’s Aid service users to discuss with women their access to paid employment and the range of additional barriers that they face as a result of domestic abuse. Also to facilitate groups of women in employability issues that are pertinent to them and that they have helped identify in their support plan, and to support women to progress on their path to paid employment and progress towards their individual goals. Additionally they will monitor, review and evaluate the project.
Adult PVG scheme membership will be required.

Duty Crisis Support Worker (office based)

The role of the Duty Crisis Support Worker is to provide a confidential, safe and supportive information service to women and agencies who contact EWA through the crisis phone line and/or ‘drop in’ service, and where appropriate to also assess women, and any accompanying children who are affected by domestic abuse, for refuge accommodation. The role will be based in the EWA office in Stockbridge, Edinburgh.
Candidates are required to have the following:
· Professional Development Award in Domestic Abuse Advocacy (IDAA/IDVA),or a recognised qualification Social Work, Community Education or SVQ3 Health and Social Care or higher.
· Ability to register as a Housing Support worker with the SSSC.
· Adult and Child PVG scheme membership will be required.
· Clean Driving Licence.
To provide a safe, professional and supportive service for women and any accompanying children who have experienced or are at risk of domestic abuse, who have additional support needs and who are living in refuge accommodation provided by Edinburgh Women’s Aid.
- Qualified to SVQ Social Services and Healthcare at SCQF Level 6 or other relevant qualification to register as a housing support worker with the SSSC.

West Lothian Women’s Aid (WLWA) is the sole charitable organisation in West Lothian working to provide information, support and accommodation to Women experiencing domestic abuse in the area.
We currently have a vacancy for a Full Time Women’s Support Worker to join our fantastic team of dedicated professionals supporting women and children to recover from Domestic Abuse. The post is for 35 hours per week (Mon-Friday office hours), plus participation in an out of hours on-call rota (once every 5-6 weeks).
The post is based in West Lothian and attracts a salary of £12.02 per hour (£21,876.40 full time equivalent, with additional pay for on-call duties and a contributory pension scheme on offer).
The preferred candidate will be qualified to SVQ level 3 (Health Services and Social Care or equivalent) and will have at least 2 years of experience working with vulnerable client groups and casework experience. The successful candidate must be a driver with access to their own vehicle.
