Glasgow Association for Mental Health is one of the principal providers of community mental health services in Greater Glasgow. It aims to provide high quality support both to those who are experiencing mental health difficulties and to their carers. GAMH is committed to the principles of Recovery and to raising the awareness and understanding of Mental Health issues.
GAMH have been commissioned by the Glasgow Carers Partnership to deliver support to carers through our two Generic Carers Centres in the West and South West of the city.
As part of the Glasgow Carers Partnership, GAMH works closely with the Social Work Carer Support Teams which are located in each of the 3 sectors of the city
These Social Work teams undertake statutory carer assessments for those carers with greatest need and work in partnership with the Carers Centres including GAMH, at a local level to support carers along the caring pathway from the point of diagnosis and through crisis and emergencies.
The Family Support worker will work directly with Carers, including Young Carers and their families, identifying supports and services which enable them to manage their caring role and maintain their own health and wellbeing.
The Family Support Worker must have the ability to work effectively with individuals with a range of needs, and have the ability to plan, organise, implement and evaluate work in accordance with the carers outcome based support plan.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate the values and attitude required to work with people who are caring for individuals with complex needs.
Knowledge of the SSSC’s Codes of Practice and the National Care Standards and how this framework applies to practice is preferred for all posts. A qualification at SVQ2 or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards achieving this qualification is essential.
All applicants must be able to work flexibly; some early morning, evening and weekend working will be required. Full induction and training will be provided.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
