Due to COVID-19 we have moved all our projects and internal communications online, embarking upon a period of digital transformation. With an increased reliance on digital, we are at an exciting stage in the organisation’s growth. The role will assist our Communications Officer, who is responsible for IT across the organisation, to maintain and support our staff and VIPs to use our IT systems.

Connecting Scotland is a major programme developed as a result of the pandemic to support people who are digitally excluded to get online. Working with hundreds of partners in communities across Scotland, people are provided with a combination of devices, internet connectivity and digital skills support to help them with learning, life and work during the pandemic. Connecting Scotland is funded by the Scottish Government and supported by all Scotland’s Local Authorities, as well as hundreds of organisations from across the public, private and third sectors.

Location: SCVO staff are currently working from home. When our offices reopen this role could be based in any of our Glasgow, Edinburgh or Inverness offices, with the option to work from home for some of the working week.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Helpline Coordinator. You will coordinate the national helpline for digital skills support as part of the Scottish Government Connecting Scotland programme. Working with a team of staff and volunteers you will ensure the efficient and professional delivery of the service.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced person to support our adult volunteers – 2-year Fixed Term Appointment

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to support leaders in the South East Scotland Region. This person will assist in promoting the recruitment and retention of new leaders and developing Scouting programmes and activities at the grass roots. The role requires you to have experience of Scouting or a similar uniformed organisation. You will work closely with existing Scout leaders and structures and provide sustainable support for them. Home based, you will be a self-starter and an excellent communicator. You will be responsible to the Regional Commissioner.

We have a thriving membership of adults and young people in our Region – over 2,300 adults and 7,200 young people. The young people are members of the Explorer, Scouts, Cubs and Beavers sections. Our leaders and the Regional Leadership Team are all volunteers and work incredibly hard to support the membership.

Why we are recruiting a Scouting Support Officer: We wish to support leaders and assist them in maintaining and developing Scouting in the Region. This person will assist us to recruit and support more adult leaders and to grow Scouting in areas where we are not currently located. We have made significant progress with a re-invigorated Regional Leadership Team and there is a great deal more that we want to accomplish, particularly to ensure that young people can have more opportunities for adventurous activities, since we know that this is the biggest attraction for young people.
