Last year we involved 5,000 staff and 9,000 volunteers supporting nearly 70,000 people in the UK and around the world, Leonard Cheshire provides support to 3,200 people in a variety of UK living services including supported living, nursing and day centre facilities. Internationally, we are a specialist development non-governmental organisation, delivering inclusive education, youth leadership and access to livelihoods programmes to more than 50,000 people in 15 countries across Asia and Africa.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team in Scotland. Working with the Community Engagement Manager, you will support the development and delivery of the Community Engagement plan for Scotland. You’ll lead a team of community based Coordinators to develop and deliver skills and confidence building projects and volunteering initiatives. Ensuring a range of networks and partnerships are maintained which promote inclusive communities you will work with people and communities to create new opportunities for people with disabilities where gaps in the local community exist. You will ensure high quality and consistent delivery of objectives and outcomes as agreed with the Community Engagement Manager.
You will have empathy with the values and ethos of Leonard Cheshire. Experience of leading a geographically dispersed team and of working with people with disabilities. Demonstrable experience of effective delivery within a programme framework. Experience of recruiting and managing volunteers as well as developing and facilitating group volunteer sessions. Demonstrable experience of working within a safeguarding framework and with an understanding of GDPR, equal rights and equal opportunities. Good networking skills and ability to build relationships through community development. Experience of monitoring KPIs and tracking work-flow. Organisational skills, the ability to set up, coordinate and deliver programmes to agreed outcomes, timescales, targets and within budget. Good verbal and written communication, interpersonal and team working. Able to work well using your own initiative. Knowledge and experience of Microsoft applications (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). The ability to travel within a designated area and occasionally across the UK including staying away from home.
