Are you looking for the chance to do something different and find a counter-cultural way to live and work? The Iona Community is recruiting for an Activity Worker at its Camas Outdoor Centre, off the beaten track on Mull.
Camas is housed in a group of traditional fishermen’s cottages only metres from the shore, with an organic garden and foraging opportunities. Camas has offered generations of young people from all faiths and none the opportunity to experience a unique blend of outdoor pursuits and opportunities for personal growth and reflection.
We are now looking for an experienced Activity Worker to join the small resident team and lead outdoor activities including kayaking and climbing, and to work empathetically with young people so that their time at Camas is an opportunity for personal reflection and improved wellbeing even after they have left the island.
Ideally you will have a qualification in outdoor activity(ies) and previous experience leading groups of young people. You will understand the responsibilities of being a role model and be a good team player, willing to contribute to the common life at the centre to create opportunities for laughter and friendship.

The Programme Manager is an exciting and creative post at the heart of the life of the Abbey. Working closely with the Warden you will develop and organise a varied and dynamic programme of workshops, events and activities that create for guests opportunities to deepen their commitment to peace and justice, understand and live out the vision and values of the Iona Community, and laugh and build friendships.
We are looking for someone who is very well-organised, imaginative and with previous experience of devising, facilitating and running programme events and group activities. Having a sense of humour and being happy leading ‘up front’ will also help!

The Musician post is central to the worship and spiritual life of the Iona Community on Iona and will be even more so during Covid when group singing is restricted. Music connects people and brings worship to life. This is a fabulous opportunity for someone who is innovative, inventive and determined to find ways of harnessing the power of music to move and communicate against all the odds!
We are looking for a talented musician and music facilitator who can play the piano and ideally another instrument, who is experienced in organising groups for music-making and who ideally brings a wider knowledge of world music and church music, including that of the Wild Goose Resource Group.

The Sacristan is the key player, along with the Warden, in looking after the Abbey church and ensuring it is ready and prepared for a wide range of services and worship in a Covid preventive way. This will include ensuring the premises are clean and tidy, checking the sound system, preparing any additional equipment like collection plates or orders of service, organising online booking, making sure those leading worship are trained/equipped and have what they need and that all worship resources are in good order.
We are looking for someone with good attention to detail, a calm and friendly manner and a live interest in creative worship.

Are you looking for the chance to do something different and find a counter-cultural way to live and work? The Iona Community is recruiting for mainly seasonal staff to live-in and re-open the newly refurbished Iona Abbey to guests in spring 2021.
This is a key role in the back-office at the Island Centre, focused on providing general administrative support and undertaking day-to-day financial processes and transactions. You will also assist with reception duties in the Welcome Centre (including the Iona Community shop), answering the phone and dealing with enquiries and requests from the Iona Community and wider public.
We are looking for someone with prior experience in administrative support who is IT literate and comfortable working in an office environment. Good attention to detail and a warm and friendly manner are essential.
