Our service aims to take a whole family approach to achieving the sustainable reintegration of prisoners and their families. Posts will be dual located within Dumfries Prison and the service base in Stranraer. COVID-19 precautions are currently in place when working with families. The service is targeted at short-term prisoners whose liberation/family address is located within Dumfries & Galloway area and who require additional support after suffering from substance misuse. The post holders will also support prisoners returning from Barlinnie or Kilmarnock prisons to the area. This part of the work may involve travel once a week or fortnightly.
The post is for 30 hours per week with the potential to be worked flexibly over 4 or 5 days per week, evening/weekend work may be required dependant on the service need. An allowance is incorporated in the salary to support this requirement. As this is a pilot service the post is offered on a fixed term basis until 30 June 2022.
