Role
Engender, Scotland’s feminist policy and advocacy organisation is seeking a Development Officer for a one-year post to work on improving women’s political representation in Scotland.
Purpose:
To increase the representation of diverse women within political parties by working directly with political parties and equalities organisations to identify opportunities for online activism and organising though the Equal Representation in Political Parties tool.
Specific duties:
- To establish relationships with key figures in political parties, including women’s and equality officers and national and regional level;
- To host webinars to demonstrate how to use the tool;
- To provide ongoing support for parties to enable them to use the tool effectively;
- To collate qualitative evidence about use of the online tool;
- To gather information on any other inclusion initiatives being undertaken by political parties;
- To chart the impact of the tool;
- To update the online tool and app to reflect best practice and include case studies.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
- A sound understanding of how political parties function;
- Experience of designing and delivering training;
- A sound understanding of intersectionality and how women experience multiple discriminations;
- Experience of developing effective partnerships;
- Ability to collate and analyse data;
- Clear writing style, and ability to communicate complex issues simply;
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills;
- Verbal communication skills, including delivering presentations;
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads and meet targets;
- Ability to evaluate resources and initiatives.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience of networking at a national and local level;
- Experience of political activism;
- Demonstrable commitment to equality across all protected characteristics.

The Scottish Independent Advocacy Alliance (SIAA) is the only national organisation with a remit to promote, support and defend independent advocacy. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our small team.
SIAA, over the years has made significant advances in influencing legislation and policy in Health, Social Care and Welfare. We are looking to recruit a Development Manager to support the development and growth of independent advocacy across Scotland.
Underpinned by human rights principles, the SIAA wants a society where anyone who needs independent advocacy is able to access it.
We are looking for a resilient, professional and self-motivated individual who will help make change happen. With an office base in Edinburgh, the SIAA has a flexible approach to blended working and is keen to embrace the new models of operation that the current circumstances have introduced us to.
This is an exciting new position within CAPS. The postholder will be responsible for taking the lead in liaising with a web designer to create a new website and thereafter be responsible for maintaining it as an important tool in CAPS digital communications. They will develop social media interactions on behalf of the whole organisation and support the staff team to develop their digital skills.
A refresh of CAPS brand identity and the creation of a Communications Strategy, with all our stakeholders, will be key components of this new role. As will, responsibility for supporting and communicating with CAPS members and CAPS Management Committee.

We’re currently looking for an enthusiastic administrator to join our busy staff team who will support activities, as well as supporting meetings of our board of trustees. The role requires excellent communication skills, confident use of IT, and entails working widely with our membership database.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out general administrative duties including manual and electronic filing system and minute taking as required
- Assist in maintaining membership database, resolving membership queries and updating information as advised by email and phone
- Be responsible for recording donations, ensuring appropriate thanks are sent, and following up Gift Aid declarations
- Carry out activities to help maintain the integrity of membership data
- Assist in membership and supporter contact through mail-outs, phone calls etc
- Assist in financial administration tasks as required
- Respond to all general enquiries including telephone, email and paper correspondence
- Assist in support of any national events such as the annual conference and AGM
- Provide administrative support to the Chief Executive and Senior Management team including assistance with diary management, travel arrangements, expenses claims, meeting coordination and drafting of correspondence
- Assist with upkeep of office environment and ordering stationery
- Provide administrative support for Board of Trustees & committee meetings, including meeting coordination and production of minutes (this will require occasional evening work, a few evenings per year)

Service Manager

We are seeking a Service Manager who will take responsibility for the management and co-ordination of our busy independent advocacy service which covers the whole of Dumfries and Galloway. Independent Advocacy is about helping to support people to express their thoughts and wishes and ensure that their views are expressed clearly. We support clients with mental health issues, intellectual disability, physical disability, older adults, families at risk and much more. We carry out this work through paid staff and volunteers and part of this role will be to supervise, train and support the independent advocates.
