The Fife service is now seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual to fill the above post.

This challenging role will involve delivering practical, bespoke interventions to people attending the custody suites in Fife. The role encompasses supporting people to seek the help they need through a wide network of partner agencies within our communities. Often the people you encounter will be at a low point in their lives so you must be able to show empathy and forge a connection during that ‘reachable moment’, then back it up with the ability to create strong, trusting relationships which support people to access the help they need.

If people describe you as; level headed, a listener, compassionate, patient, a great communicator, hard worker, resilient, dedicated, great in a crisis – and you have the energy and commitment to always go the extra mile to support people effectively then we would like to hear from you.

The role demands regular evening weekend work, followed up with community outreach support during the week. The post holder must have a deep understanding of the causal factors of violence and present as “credible” to those we support, through their own lived and professional experience. The post holder will have a proven track record in this field, preferably backed up with a professional qualification. A personal knowledge of the criminal justice process would be desirable for this post.

Applicants must have a full driving licence and access to a car satisfying the appropriate insurance requirements.

Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme is a requirement for the post.

Police Scotland Vetting will also be undertaken and is a requirement for the successful candidate for this post.

A Criminal Justice Worker is required to provide support and advice through structured mentoring for females who are involved in the Criminal Justice System.

Support needs vary enormously dependant on criminogenic needs/risks, examples include: addressing offending behaviour through the delivery of behaviour change programmes, supporting service users with mental health and wellbeing, exploring housing options, compliance with statutory orders and supporting service users to access education/ employment. Experience of working with women in the criminal justice system is essential.

The ability to use initiative and organise workload within a pressurised environment is essential. Successful applicants will be flexible and imaginative in their approach and sensitive and confident in their ability to help service users.

Multi-Agency working is crucial as Sacro work in partnership with Fife Council Criminal Justice Social Work to provide a holistic support service to service users in Fife.

You should be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. A relevant qualification is desirable but is not essential.

Aditi - Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Women’s Well-being Service

We are looking for Women’s Support Workers from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds to deliver direct practical support interventions for Sacro’s new BAME Women’s Well-being service. You must have experience of cross-cultural work, be an effective communicator in English as well as in another language prevalent in Scotland’s Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, highly organised and have effective casework management skills.

You will be responsible for delivering direct support and mentoring interventions to BAME women affected by domestic abuse and Honour-Based Violence (HBV) and for maintaining accurate case notes. You will operate within the Scottish Government’s Equally Safe Strategy as well as Sacro’s policies and procedures and will escalate any safety/well-being concerns around adult and child protection to the Service Co-ordinator/Service Manager. You will be responsible for monitoring women’s well-being throughout their journey within the service and for making appropriate follow-on referrals to relevant services. You will also be required to organise, deliver and participate in group community activities.

Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme is a requirement this post. We particularly welcome applicants from BAME communities for this post, and applicants must be female. Funded by the City of Edinburgh Council.

Sacro is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary in 2021 and we are in the midst of our Project 50, delivering our new strategy and some big changes for the future, to keep us at the leading edge of practice in community justice, working with people to deliver life changing services ensure that no-one struggles alone.

We are seeking a new trustee to join the Board as we lead Sacro into a new phase of its development and ensuring that we are a sustainable, inclusive and people focused organisation.
