We are seeking a Female Youth Support Worker to join our youth work team supporting young people in the greater Gorbals area.

Crossroads Youth & Community Association is a locally managed organisation that has been active in the Gorbals and Govanhill neighbourhoods of Glasgow for over 50 years. Youth work is carried out from The Barn, a purpose-built facility now surrounded by newly-built social housing and housing for sale.

The approach to youth work is informal but structured and based on the staff team building strong relationships with young people, creating an environment in which they can grow and learn. There is an emphasis on arts-based activity, food, and outdoor and adventure activity.

A founder member of Crossroads, way back in 1958, reflected; “everybody has the right to live gloriously ... whatever in society makes this impossible must be attacked; whatever in the individual may make it possible must be nurtured and strengthened.” Crossroads has adopted this reflection as a principle for youth and community work.

The aim of our youth work is:

a) To make room for young people to shine, where they can discover themselves and something of their own aims and purpose and can enjoy just being themselves.

b) Young people will learn new skills, be involved with community, learn to analyse their own situations and solve their own problems and experience moments of unconditional joy.
