Four Square Scotland is an Edinburgh charity working for more than 40 years to prevent homelessness and promote inclusion. We provide services directly to people who are homeless, or who are at risk of homelessness to overcome any barriers they may face in creating a stable life for themselves in their community. The role:

We are recruiting a Practitioner for our Housing Support Team with in-depth and up-to-date benefits knowledge they can use to support people and advise their colleagues. The team provide support to adults who are homeless or are at risk of homelessness and require housing support with the aim of resolving or preventing homelessness.

This role is located in the city centre of Edinburgh.


We are seeking a qualified and professional person who:

  • Is proactive, highly organised, a problem solver, has a positive outlook, approachable, friendly, patient, and confident and has a flexible approach to supporting people;
  • Has strong personal and professional values that align with our organisational values of integrity, excellence, dignity, and support;
  • Can demonstrate they have excellent interpersonal skills with people who use our services, colleagues, and partners;
  • Has an in-depth understanding of benefits, homelessness, trauma, and adversity and how it impacts people's life outcomes;
  • Can undertake assessments and support planning and work alongside people to help them achieve the goals they set;
  • Is honest, trustworthy and respectful to colleagues, people they support, partners, commissioners, and all other stakeholders;
  • Has a good standard of English and maths and is proficient with using IT systems and databases.

Terms & Conditions:

  • Working 35 hours per week, flexibly between Monday to Sunday to ensure the services meet their contractual requirements;
  • £24,000 per annum;
  • 35 days annual leave entitlement rising to 40 days upon completion of 5 years' service.
