This is a unique opportunity to use your experience of developing and selling-in stories to media to save our planet. Join us as Media and Communications Officer and you will enjoy the opportunity to help protect some of the world's most vulnerable animals, places and people as well as tackle climate change and address the unsustainable consumption of precious natural resources.

As Media and Communications Officer with WWF Scotland you will be part of a team with a strong and established track record of working with the Scottish Parliament and Government to secure better decisions for our environment. Your role will be to ensure we continue to communicate our work in a manner which is clear, engaging, consistent and credible for a variety of key audiences, from members of the public and funders to Government Ministers and journalists. In addition to supporting our core work on climate, food, and nature, you will also lead comms and media for a new project on marine fisheries in Scotland.

Day-to-day you will collaborate with colleagues to deliver coverage across traditional and social media, targeted at the public and key fundraising and advocacy audiences. This will involve working with colleagues across the organisation to find and develop stories, build relationships with key media and contacts in government, business and other organisations we are looking to influence. You will also develop and deliver sticky content designed to spread key policy messages and engage supporters through our social media channels. You will support public affairs engagement with decision makers at key moments, using comms tools to inform, engage and influence for our policy priorities too.

You must be experienced at creating impactful content and developing and selling-in stories to media. You will have a strong understanding of Scotland from its institutions and political structures to media landscape too. Expert at using digital and social media tools for engaging and influencing key audiences, you will be familiar with social media community and content management systems.

You will also be an effective communicator, good at prioritising with strong project management, relationship building and interpersonal skills. A team player you are also adept at overcoming obstacles and can demonstrate a passion for the natural world and our core mission.

If you have the skills to secure better decisions for our environment, we would love to hear from you. Please visit our website via the link, complete the online registration and submit a copy of your up to date CV with cover letter highlighting why you are why you believe you are suited for the role.

Every role at WWF is open to applications from all sections of society. We believe in the potential of everyone regardless of; sex, race, religion or belief, ethnic origin, different physical ability, family structure, socio-economics, age, nationality or citizenship, marital, domestic or civil partnership, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other aspect that makes you, well you. Here at WWF we’re committed to conscious inclusion that helps cultivate an ethos of belonging, connection and shared purpose. We believe that the more diverse we are the better we become; this brings us together and empowers us to develop, engage and inspire; and critically to help build a future where people can live in harmony with nature.

Our policies and benefits reflect the importance of people being able to have a good work-life balance and being able to bring their ‘full self’ to work.

Our world needs you like never before. We are the first generation to know we are destroying the world and we could be the last that can do anything about it. We’re looking for people who are passionate about making it politically, socially and economically unacceptable to destroy our planet’s natural resources. We need you to join us in the fight for our world.
