EmilyTest is a Scottish charity tackling Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in education. We work with Scottish government, VAW professionals, schools, colleges and Universities helping them to develop effective policies, procedures and practices in relation to Gender Based Violence (GBV).

We do that by networking and establishing partnerships with stakeholders, monitoring current approaches to prevention and intervention, and working with stakeholders to bring effective and meaningful change.

Our aim is to ensure every young person is able to live, work and study free from the harms and threats of GBV.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated GBV Charter Project Development Manager to assist with the implementation of our newly developed GBV Charter for Scottish Colleges and Universities. The position is funded by the National Lottery Community fund for a term of two years but may be extended subject to funding. The GBV Charter Development Manager will work with the CEO, researcher and board of trustees to:

Develop a strategic approach to implement the GBV Charter in Universities and Colleges

Help and support University(ies) and College(s) to implement the GBV Charter into their institution, measuring against the key principles in the Charter

Identify barriers to achieving status and assist Universities and Colleges in finding workable and sustainable solutions

Will have an operational remit linking with tertiary education, third sector, public sector and government

Will report to the CEO, trustees and partners

Essential knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and personal qualities

Possess excellent communication skills

Be able to motivate and engage people at all levels

Strong teamwork skills and experience of working at a local and national policy level

Solid understanding of GBV, its drivers and prevalence in tertiary education. Knowledge of tried and tested approaches and understanding of a trauma informed approach.

Understanding of GBV reporting systems and VAW organisations.

Understanding of GBV policies within Colleges and Universities and strategies proposed and promoted by Scottish government and VAW organisations.

Able to prioritise, plan and coordinate activities related to Charter development and implementation.

Able to develop and work to a strategic plan and to take an objective approach and adapt projects as needs identified.

Analyse and resolve project issues in an effective and timely manner

Good IT skills, including use of videoconferencing platforms

Be able to travel to all Universities and Colleges across Scotland

Excellent organisational skills, including diary management in relation to working with multiple institutions

Desirable knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and personal qualities

Experience of working with government at a local and national level

Excellent communication skills and confident liaising with senior management and senior government officials.
