With funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, GCVS will support third sector organisations throughout Scotland with Health & Safety, by providing training, guidance and advice.

As Health & Safety Advisor, you will promote a positive health and safety culture across the third sector. You will ensure employers and staff are aware of their obligations to comply with safety legislation and safety policies and practices are adopted and adhered to.

You will coordinate the provision of a Health & Safety Management System including advice and information on implementation, and ensure the management system functions correctly and is kept up to date with changes in H&S law and best practice.

The successful candidate: You will have robust understanding of the application of current health and safety law and best practice. You will be a great communicator with the ability to present complex information in an accessible manner and demonstrable experience of designing and delivering health and safety training courses. Professional status with a membership organisation (Tech IOSH / Grad IOSH / SIIRSM) would be an advantage although not essential.

This is a new, very different role within HTSI as it combines the need for supporting individuals to access the excellent and diverse service across the Third and Public Sector while supporting the practical needs of a normal café front of house services.

The post holder will provide a person-centred service that is responsive to vulnerable individuals aspirations and needs of people using Café 1668 within the community. They will identify, support, and signpost to services relevant to the individual’s needs. This will include working with other relevant Third Sector Organisations to arrange timetables of activities, promotion of their events and services and general sharing of information. The role will also have responsibility of managing the day to day ‘front of house’ of Café 1668 including but not restricted to meeting and greeting taking food orders, cash handling, and managing a small team of volunteers.

We are looking for a new Development Worker to join our Link Up project in Whitfield, Dundee. Reporting to the North East Project Manager, you will use your community development experience to engage and work with local residents, harnessing their capacity and empowering them to take forward activities of their choice (e.g., gardening, cooking, arts, crafts, sports, music) in a sustainable way and on their terms.

The post will be one of a team of development officer within HTSI but with a specific regional wide remit for promoting the participation of the Third Sector in decision making forum and their contribution to policy, both nationally and regionally. This specific role will work with existing representatives elected from within the HTSI membership to support them in undertaking their responsibilities, including the circulation of communication and engagement within the membership.

The post holder will be responsible for leading on developing the representative pathway in Highland, the recruitment and development of representatives and the co-ordination of policy response on behalf of Members of HTSI.
