Role
So why are we looking for an Online Practitioner
Children 1st are developing a new and exciting way of supporting families in Aberdeen. We have a long history of working with children and families in the city. After a pause in 2018 we reviewed our purpose and role alongside children, families and partners. We have been building a new approach to help children affected by poor mental health and emotional distress. Children 1st along with partners share a determination to act upon the recommendations from The Independent Care Review and deliver The Promise to children and young people. We are also determined that the full incorporation of the UNCRC means that children will have their rights respected in all areas of their lives and will have a real say in the way they are supported. This new Children 1st service will sit at the heart of three local community hubs, providing early support to children and their families at the point when they need this to prevent more intensive supports being necessary. And our volunteer-led digital helpline service will allow families to access that support whenever they need it, 365 days a year.

Base
You will be based in one of the local community hubs and will travel to connect with other parts of the organisation once Scottish Guidelines permit this and it is safe for you and colleagues.
Salary, Conditions, Pension
We will offer you a competitive salary, generous annual leave entitlement (40 days inclusive of 9 public holidays), flexible working opportunities and a contributory pension scheme.
Hours
We have full time hours available but appreciate the right candidate may wish part time hours, we are open to discussing your required hours. Hours to be worked flexibly to suit the needs of the service.

Recording Practice Development Role

Good quality records are vital in showing individual progress against care plans and personal goals; building a meaningful description of important events in a child’s life; and ultimately providing them with a link to their past whenever they want to find out more about their childhood.
Following rigorous consultation, development and training Aberlour has been using Microsoft Dynamics as our case management system for the last couple of years. Ongoing analysis has identified a need to develop further awareness of quality recording and ensure consistent best practice across the organisation. We are looking for someone to lead a 9-month project to focus on these areas and help the organisation ensure that current and future staff can feel confident in this key area of responsibility within their role as a social care worker.
You will use your extensive experience of recording and producing reports related to assessments and care planning to work alongside Assistant Directors, Service Managers and our Dynamics Champions to embed recording best practice across our services enabling meaningful reports to be generated at individual, service and organisational level.
You will also take responsibility for supporting the training of new services just starting to use Dynamics.
The post is offered full time (although part time hours may be considered), fixed term for 9 months. Internal secondment requests will be considered, please speak to your line manager if you are interested in such an opportunity.

Short Breaks and Care at Home services
Aberlour Options Aberdeen provides a variety of services throughout Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire supporting people with a range of complex and profound disabilities including learning, physical and life limiting conditions and complex communication difficulties. Working in partnership with Aberdeen City Council and Grampian Autistic Society, we are developing a new service to expand our existing provision to provide a Hub which offers care at home, community and residential short breaks and an exciting, tailored programme of activities and support for children with disabilities and their families.
Our new centre is a hub for supporting children with disabilities and their families from across the city, giving children the chance to have new experiences and make new friends while giving their parents the vital opportunity to recharge their batteries. Our new hub-based provision is across our bases in Bucksburn and Garthdee, offering community-based outreach services, residential short breaks and care at home services. In addition to this, the Hub provides holistic family support to offer a menu of services that support and complement direct support offered to children and young people.

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and caring individuals to join our short breaks and care at home team, working directly with children and young people with complex, multiple and profound disabilities and their families within their own homes, the community and service premises. You will contribute to the development of care and support plans, working in an outcomes focused manner to ensure that children, young people and their families get the most out of their service. You will work closely with internal and external colleagues in a multi-agency approach to ensure that the holistic needs of children, young people and families are central to service provision.
You will have experience of working with young people in a care at home, community or residential setting. It is desirable that you will also have experience of supporting children and young people with complex disabilities and associated health needs in a range of settings. You will be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council. To register you must hold or be willing to work towards a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 7 or above (eg. SVQ3 Care plus an HNC).
You will demonstrate confidence in your approach and have a good understanding of the complex and challenging circumstances that may arise for vulnerable children. You will display patience and empathy in your daily interactions and be reflective in your practice.

Home-Start Lorn is a well established, small charity, serving the communities of Oban, Lorn and Mull, whose volunteers provide support, friendship, practical help and guidance to young families with at least one child under the age of 5. Our aim is support parents to develop strong relationships with their children and to fully engage with their communities and local services.

We are looking for an experienced mental health practitioner who can make a positive impact in the lives of these families over an initial two year period. You will be involved in helping to train and support volunteers who will be given specialist mental health training.
