First Step is a community based, locally managed project in Musselburgh. Our aim is to provide opportunities for families with young children to make positive choices and to encourage parents and children to develop their skills, confidence and self-esteem. We provide a range of services for families with children under 8, including early learning & childcare, a family support service and a varied programme of groups and classes.

We are seeking an approachable, self-motivated, engaging professional with the skills required to support families and individuals with a wide range of needs.

The successful candidate will offer family support to vulnerable and isolated families with children. The post holder will work within the local community using a strengths-based approach. A qualification at degree level in Early Years, Community Education, Social Work or equivalent is essential.

The post is subject to membership of the PVG scheme and satisfactory references.

Following rigorous consultation, development and training Aberlour has been using Microsoft Dynamics as our case management system for the last couple of years. Ongoing analysis has identified a need to develop further awareness of quality recording and ensure consistent best practice across the organisation. We are looking for someone to lead a 9-month project to focus on these areas and help the organisation ensure that current and future staff can feel confident in this key area of responsibility within their role as a social care worker.

You will use your extensive experience of recording and producing reports related to assessments and care planning to work alongside Assistant Directors, Service Managers and our Dynamics Champions to embed recording best practice across our services enabling meaningful reports to be generated at individual, service and organisational level.

You will also take responsibility for supporting the training of new services just starting to use Dynamics.

The post is offered full time (although part time hours may be considered), fixed term for 9 months. Internal secondment requests will be considered, please speak to your line manager if you are interested in such an opportunity.

We are looking to build our relief pool of Young People’s Workers within our Options Lothian Service. We offer a safe, homely environment for a child to come and stay for a short break that gives their families a rest from their caring role. During that break, children enjoy a range of fun activities and experiences with our staff who specialise in taking care of children with disabilities. Our service is very much a ‘home from home’ for the children who stay with us there. Our service is open from Fridays to Sundays every week.

Our relief workers play a crucial role in supporting our team. This work is offered on a casual, hourly paid basis to provide cover during staff absence and/or particularly busy periods. Availability should be specified on your application form. We need candidates to work the weekends, especially Sundays from 8am – 5pm. Ideally, you will have experience of direct work with children and families and/or experience of working with children or adults with a learning disability and/or an autism spectrum condition.

You will receive a planned and supported induction consisting of a varied training programme; including CALM Training, Child Protection Training and support to complete an SVQ3. You will be working alongside a highly motivated and skilled team to provide a personalised service for our young people.

This is an exciting opportunity to carry out an important role within an innovative partnership between Children 1st and East Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership.

The service is funded by East Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership, to facilitate Family Group Decision Making approaches with children and families to ensure they play a key and central role in the decisions made around their lives.

The role will require the promotion of effective communication and involvement of children and families within assessment, care planning and decision-making forums. The successful candidate will be required to work in close partnership with Social Work, Education and Health colleagues, leading innovation and supporting restorative approaches to working with families.

You do not require previous experience in the delivery of Family Group Decision Making but must show commitment to complete accredited training. This training will be provided.
