VisionPK is the local charity for people with sensory impairments who live in Perth and Kinross. We offer a range of services focused on improving independence and supporting people to live their lives well.

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Habilitation Specialist to support children and young people with a vision impairment in Perth and Kinross. This is a great opportunity for someone with the right skills and enthusiasm to join our experienced and committed team and contribute to our developing services.

You will have a recognised qualification in Habilitation, or in Rehabilitation Studies with an additional qualification for children and young people; your previous experience in this role will mean you can set your own priorities, manage your workload and assess associated risk; alongside this, you will have experience of assessing need, identifying key outcomes and developing personal plans. Depending on qualifications and experience, there is also the opportunity to work with adults and groups.

Deafblind Scotland is the specialist charity working with adults living with dual sensory impairment. Our ambitions are high for members and we are therefore at the cutting edge of finding ways to support people to lead their most meaningful life. The Dare to Dream Lived Experience Project (D2D) will focus on building peer leadership skills and opportunities for deafblind people. Aligning with the Scottish Government’s commitment to build a fairer nation.

The project worker will work with deafblind people and the Scottish Advisory Group on Deafblindness (SAGoD), who Deafblind Scotland (DbS) hosts, to support deafblind people to increase their capacity to engage with national policy and service developments. Ensuring deafblind people, who are amongst the most disadvantaged in society, have a voice and are heard. Raising Deafblind people’s ambitions using this moment in time, as Scotland comes out of COVID-19 Pandemic, focused on building back fairer.

This role will also involve working with deafblind people to support them to help shape our Dare to Dream strategy, ensuring that it is genuinely built with the perspective of deafblind people. Enabling deafblind people to shape a Deafblind Scotland where they can ‘Dare to Dream’ and a society where these dreams may be realised.

Glasgow Centre for Inclusive Living is run by disabled people and aims to empower disabled people in Glasgow by providing a variety of housing, employment, training and inclusive living support services.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within our existing support team in South Lanarkshire developing and promoting Self Directed Support.

You will be responsible for providing information, advice, training and guidance to people with a focus on their options for self-directed support and update and maintain a comprehensive community asset map.

With previous experience in an advice and support role along with experience of providing support and / or training using a community development approach.

This post is funded until March 2022.

We are looking for staff who can make a major contribution to our plans for innovation and growth and who have the commitment and enthusiasm to contribute to the work of our support services to Deaf people with additional needs throughout Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife.

You should have…

SVQ (level 2) in Social Care or similar qualification preferred.

Certificate in Sign Language (level 1 / 2) or equivalent desirable.

Experience in working with deaf* people / people with special needs preferable.

Experience in supporting people in their own Tenancy’s preferable

· The ability to provide quality, person centred, support (including evening, weekend and sleep-over)

A willingness to learn and show initiative.

Main Responsibilities

· To take an active role in assessments / recordings and to work with service users to develop their skills and abilities to achieve identified outcomes.

· To assist service users with personal care tasks where appropriate.

· To be involved, as appropriate, with all household tasks, maximising service users’ participation.

· To record the day-to-day finances (where relevant) and household budgets of service users.

· To enable service users to access information to be fully informed of their rights and valid expectations from the service provided.

· To ensure the health, safety and security of individuals and their environment.
