Are you well-organised and confident in providing high-level administrative support to executives and non-executives,
with an extensive track record gained working as an Executive Assistant, or in a similar role? Then join us as
an Executive Assistant to the Director of Shelter Scotland and you could soon be making the most of your skills
and experience.
A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain
struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the
threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change — with individuals, in communities, across society – and
leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause
to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving
to achieve.
About the role
Shelter Scotland has been changing lives since 1968. Through our national network of services, we provide vital
advice and support to people in housing need across the country and draw on that experience to campaign for
change to end our housing emergency. And, right now, we need an Executive Assistant to take responsibility for
the efficient running of the Director’s office, proving a high level, confidential administrative support
service to the Director, Assistant Directors and Shelter Scotland Committee. Acting as the first point of
contact for enquiries which will include senior political and media figures, managing diaries, providing project
support, drafting briefings and collating papers - these are just some aspects of a vital support role that will
also ensure effective interaction between the six Directors of Shelter, their Directorate Leadership Teams and
the Executive Leadership Team and CEO.
About you
To succeed, you’ll need proven relevant experience that includes facilitating department management and/or team
meetings, taking good quality minutes and dealing with the logistics of servicing management meetings. You’ll
also need excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritise your work and carry out tasks under your
own initiative. Adept at producing high quality Word and PowerPoint documents quickly, including identifying
alternative ways of visualising or formatting documents to improve layout, is important too. What’s more, you’re
customer-focused, great at building good working relationships and confident in introducing new ideas, methods
or processes to drive improvements.
Benefits
We offer a wide range of benefits, including 30 days of annual leave, enhanced family friendly policies, pension and
interest free travel loans. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, payroll giving, cycle to
work scheme and an employee assistance programme.
Shelter Scotland helps over half a million people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our
advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us
for help.
