We have immediate availability for qualified and experienced Counsellors (contracted) and Associate Counsellors (self-employed on guaranteed hours)

Vacancies in Dundee; Moray; Perth & Kinross; Falkirk; Glasgow; West Dunbartonshire

Priority will be given to applicants who have experience and post qualifying training in working with young people and children – preferably in a primary or secondary school environment.

We also have vacancies in our telephone assessment team and our adult counselling services.

*Applications received after that date will still be considered if we have remaining vacancies to fill.

Roles are for 3, 4 or in some cases 5 days per week (21 – 35 hours). Whilst initially short-term contracts are offered (4-6 months duration) there will be opportunities for longer term roles from April 2021 onward

Counsellor Grade 5/5a (£24,500 - £29,000) pro rata / Associate rate £17.50-£20.00 p/h

(salary placement dependent on qualifications, experience and accreditation status)

You must have:

- A recognised Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling

- A valid driving licence and access to own vehicle is essential (this can be waived for limited roles)

- Experience of counselling young people in a school environment is highly advantageous

- Excellent IT skills and be comfortable with use of mobile technology

Ideally you will have:

- Experience of delivering time limited, solution focused approaches (SSW; 4:8 model)

- Demonstrable experience of working with a range of client types and presenting issues

Experience of recording comprehensive client progress and improvement data, preferably using recognised clinical / outcome focused tools (CORE, SDQ, GBO etc) and processes.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Volunteer Coordinator to join our team. Working across the programme the post holder will support volunteers to be safely and effectively engaged in the See Me programme and to take action to challenge stigma and discrimination as part of our communications and campaigns, within different communities and settings. This newly created role is central to See Me’s approach; ensuring that people with lived experience of mental health problems (our volunteers) are a central part of the social movement for change to end mental health stigma and discrimination. With strong interpersonal skills you will coordinate, facilitate and empower our volunteers to take action based on their experience in line with our new volunteering plan.

The successful candidate will be an energetic and driven individual who is motivated to make a positive impact to end mental health stigma and discrimination. Collaborative working is key to all roles: candidates must be skilled in partnership working and have a strong track record of working as part of a team. At the same time you’ll be adept at ensuring delivery to plan and capturing good monitoring data to support reporting and evaluation.

As a central part of the national programme team the post holder will apply community development/ youth work approaches to take forward a range of projects and activities. The post holder will support growth of social movement across Scotland by working directly with young people and youth sector partners to influence change in attitudes, behaviours and cultures. With strong interpersonal skills and team working you will support our Youth Volunteers to be active in all areas of the programme including communications and campaigns, communities and priority groups and within our priority settings.

Children’s mental health charity, Place2Be, has been providing in-school support and expert training to improve the emotional wellbeing of pupils, families, teachers and school staff in Scottish primary and secondary schools since 2001.

Starting with an initial pilot in two Edinburgh primary schools, Place2Be Scotland now reaches over 14,000 pupils and their families in schools across Glasgow, Edinburgh, South Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, Dundee, Angus, Perth and Kinross and South Ayrshire. Our training programme includes a Mental Health Champions Foundation Course available free of charge to 50,000 teachers across the UK and support for School Leaders.

As an established leader in the field Place2Be has also been commissioned by the Scottish Government to deliver a nationwide support service for school leaders, teachers and staff across Scotland. In addition we are working in partnership with the University of Edinburgh to support teachers of the future to develop their resilience, understand children’s mental health and wellbeing and contribute to mental healthy schools.

School Counsellor Service managers are the heart of Place2Be’s mission: helping thousands of children break through the emotional barriers to learning by providing high-quality counselling and sup-port.

We are looking for experienced Counsellors/Therapists/Psychotherapists to take up posts within Place2Be school projects' as School Counsellor Service managers.

We're looking for experienced, confident communicators to manage services in schools in your region – supervising Place2Be Counsellors on Placement, and building great relationships with children, families and teachers.

The successful candidate:

Will have a recognised counselling or therapy qualification with substantial post-qualifying experience, along with a good knowledge of the school environment. You will:

• hold a recognised counselling or therapy qualification
• current membership of a relevant professional body (BACP/ PTUK/ UKCP/NCS/BPS)
• possess post qualification experience in a clinical role and an understanding of children and young people
• demonstrate understanding of working with children and young people who require or would benefit from emotional and therapeutic support
• demonstrates understanding of a range of therapeutic models
