Role
Project Scotland, is delighted to announce that it has been asked to support the delivery of the Young Persons Guarantee by the Scottish Government, this will enable us to reach more young people and support them in their journey to a positive destination through volunteering. We are therefore looking to grow our team.
We are looking to recruit 2 mentor project officers to help manage our national mentoring programme.
All the posts have the potential to be full time but we are willing to offer more flexible arrangements to suit individual circumstances. Roles will be offered until 31st March 2021 when the posts will be reviewed. We are anticipating further demand for our services, and we are therefore also looking to develop a pool of potential candidates.
Job Purpose
The Mentor Project Worker will report directly to the Mentor Manager. The role will involve various admin related tasks, engaging with the young people we support and the opportunity to support or lead on some of the digital and more creative aspects of what we do within the Team.
Main duties
- To carry out a variety of administrative tasks involved in the daily running of the Mentoring Programme these include, maintaining mentor database, responding to incoming emails, maintaining accurate records
- Assisting the Mentor Manager with aspects of the volunteer mentor recruitment process
- Contacting young people we support as part of the wider project, telling them about mentoring and discussing their options of mentoring support
- Communicating regularly with mentors, keeping them informed sharing knowledge and learning and inviting them to various activities including training, get togethers, webinars
- Gather quotes and case studies from mentors and mentees to be used in marketing, impact and evaluation
- To support the marketing team with the creation of social media content that will promote the great work of the Mentoring Programme
- There is also the opportunity to support the Mentor Manager with our educational webinars. This could include researching content, contacting potential specialists that could support us with these and facilitating discussion during the webinar.

1. Passion about the issues that young people face in the care and justice systems.
2. Recent experience of being looked after and/ or in the justice system.
3. Experience of working directly with children and young people, individually and in groups.
4. Knowledge of the care and/ or justice system in Scotland.

The Project Worker role provides an opportunity to be part of Rock Trust’s well established Supported Accommodation Project, supporting homeless and care experienced young people to develop independent living skills and transition to permanent accommodation.

The Board make decisions required for assurance and management of the organisation, ensuring compliance, good governance and adequate financial resources for our services whilst protecting our assets and property. The Board also ensure we manage risks carefully, as a responsible employer and uphold the principles of equality and diversity.
Board meetings are held on a monthly to six weekly basis, typically in the evening.
