Calman Trust works, based in Inverness, mainly with young people aged 15-25 who experience difficulty in the transition to independent living or the world of work, and are not yet ready or able to benefit from mainstream learning or training programmes. We offer the young person a bespoke combination of learning and support, believing that, with support to overcome the challenges they experience on the way to independent adulthood, young people are capable of achieving great things.
We are currently recruiting to positions in our response to the needs of young people in the Inner Moray Firth area looking to progress towards work and/or independent living in a post-Covid world.
Within the Calman Trust Learning and Development Team the Youth Worker, Progression and Aftercare, will have responsibility for enabling young people to progress from the organisation’s learning activities towards their next stage in a job, further training or College, with the ability to sustain this. You will build a working relationship with young people in order to understand their choices for the future and their concerns, and to support them through this transition until they feel settled. You will build relationships with local employers, knock on their door to create opportunities that match the choices of the young people with whom you are working, and introduce them personally to the employer or alternative destination of choice. To this end, you will collaborate with colleagues by providing employment-focused training and support to young people in preparation for this transition, consistent with the priorities described in their learning plan. You will undertake reporting and recording of outcomes for the young people you work with.
