Housing Officer

On the back of its success in providing supported accommodation in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dumfries Bethany Christian Trust is in the process of purchasing three properties within the Torry area of Aberdeen to develop its new Bethany Homes Aberdeen project.

We are looking for a housing officer to deliver tenancy/community support to the three individuals who will take up residence in our supported flats. The Housing Officer role will ensure the efficient outworking of tenancy management functions, including letting, inspecting and management of properties, working closely with the tenants to provide the highest level of care to deal with the day to day issues of housing management, including supporting the tenants with rent and maintenance issues, thereby maximising rental income and providing administration support as required.

The role also includes engaging with the tenants to build their self-esteem, confidence and a sense of purpose to enable people to make positive choices relating to tenancy sustainment, community engagement and the development of healthy social networks.

As part of the wider Bethany Homes Team you will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills however have the ability to work on your own and prioritise your workload; you will have experience and knowledge of the service user group and their surrounding issues relating to homelessness as well as having housing/letting management experience. Competence in the use of Microsoft office tools is essential.

As Bethany is a Christian organisation, this post carries an Occupational Requirement in line with Equality Act 2010. Please note that one reference must be from your church minister or leader to endorse your live and active Christian faith and commitment. Successful applicants for this post will require membership of the PVG scheme and registration with the SSSC.
