We Are With You (formerly Addaction) was established in 1967 and since then it has evolved into a substance misuse, mental health and young people’s charity delivering a wide range of clinical, harm reduction and recovery services to some 160,000 people across the UK.
The organisation is led by a UK Board of Trustees, responsible for the overall management of the organisation, its strategic direction, decision making and governance.
The Council for Scotland is a committee of the main We Are With You Board. It is responsible for scrutinising and advising on the work of We Are With You in Scotland, mindful of the distinct Scottish political, health, educational, social work, and legal landscapes. The Council monitors the activities of the Charity in Scotland to ensure that those activities further the Charity’s charitable purpose.
We are currently looking for new members to join the Council to expand the breadth of its skills, expertise and diversity.
We are keen to hear from people with sound business management skills and specialist knowledge in one or more of these areas; health and social care, addictions, mental health, business development/income generation, diversity & inclusion, clinical governance and business marketing.
We are committed to promoting equality, valuing diversity and working inclusively so welcome applications from people from all backgrounds. We also welcome applications from those with lived experience.
We are underrepresented by women and people from the BAME/LGBTQ+ backgrounds and would look favourably on such applications.
The Council for Scotland meets quarterly, in the early evening. Council members are also invited to attend other organisational events and encouraged to visit our services in Scotland at least once per year.
This is a voluntary, unremunerated position but we are happy to cover your expenses.
