Role

Ardenglen Housing Association is a highly successful, award winning organisation. We are extremely proud of our proven track record and achievements over the past 30 years with customer services, innovation and kindness at our core.

We pride ourselves on being recognised as a community anchor and are committed to the ongoing physical, social and economic regeneration of the area.

Ardenglen is a community based housing association established in 1990. We operate from a modern office in Castlemilk, Glasgow and own and manage 1,000 homes for rent.

As we launch the Castlemilk Community Food Pantry we are looking for a motivated, dynamic and resilient individual to join our dedicated Operations Team as our Pantry Coordinator.

You will be working within our innovative community food pantry and will be expected to deliver excellent performance across all areas of the project as well as ensuring that high quality of customer service is in line with our vision and values.

You will be dynamic and engaging with excellent communication, management, leadership and coaching skills and will play a central role in the development of this new and exciting project. You will work closely with the community of Castlemilk as well as wider networks and key partners to ensure they influence and shape the pantry. You will also link in with other proposed pantry projects across Glasgow in supporting the development of a learning and skills resources sharing network.

Castlemilk Community Food Pantry will provide fresh, nutritional, good quality food at a significantly subsidised rate. The model is relatively new to Scotland but has been pioneered successfully in other parts of the UK and across the USA to great success. It will receive and distribute surplus, fit for purpose food, provided through effective partnerships with, e.g. Fareshare Glasgow and will include fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and dairy to offer a quality shopping experience.

As opposed to the foodbank model of free crisis provision the Pantry will offer a more dignified alternative to address the significant food security issues which exist within the community.
