About Start Up Stirling
Our charity began in 1994 when a group of local churches started to collect donated household goods and redistribute them to people who had been homeless and were moving into social housing. In response to growing local need we started our foodbank service in 2012 in an effort to tackling food insecurity and hunger. In 2017 we introduced an additional pilot service that offers additional practical and tailored support for people experiencing hardship in the Stirling Council area and looking beyond crisis food support.
The whole operation, including our Board of Trustees, is run by volunteers (currently around 110), supported by a small group of paid staff. We work closely with a network of around thirty-five local referral partners, including Citizens Advice Bureau, Women’s Aid, Salvation Army Rural Housing, NHS, Stirling Council and local schools to identify those people that need our support and help.
What are we looking for in a General Manager?
We are seeking an experienced, well-motivated, confident, energetic manager with proven leadership qualities and a commitment to helping Start Up achieve its charitable objectives. The successful candidate will be someone who can manage the day to day operations in an efficient and effective manner, making appropriate use of task delegation and team leading, whilst also contributing to the continued development and management of key partner/funder relationships which underpin the charity’s efforts to support to people across Stirling and the surrounding areas.
