Role

Aberlour Guardianship Service supports unaccompanied asylum seeking or trafficked children and young people to understand their progress through the asylum system, feel supported through the process, access the help they need and make informed decisions based on the available options. We help refugee children and young people, and victims of trafficking who arrive in Scotland without their parents.

The children and young people we help in the Scottish Guardianship Service have been through unimaginable traumas. Now, they must they cope with being apart from their families in a strange, new country. They also face language and cultural barriers. In addition, the welfare and immigration system is very complicated and it can be difficult for them to understand.

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team. This project is part funded by the EU Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund. Making management of migration flows more efficient across the European Union. We are looking to recruit a full time Guardian (Based in Glasgow or Edinburgh), working 37.5 hours per week. You could be this person!

We are looking for candidates who have a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 8 and have, or be prepared to work towards, the Office of Immigration Services Commissioner Level 2 Registration.

You will have experience of working with young people and children, dealing with child/adult protection issues, experience of advocacy work, inter-agency and partnership working and a good knowledge or experience of the asylum systems.
