Calman Trust works mainly with young people aged 15-25 who experience difficulty in the transition to independent living or the world of work, and are not yet ready or able to benefit from mainstream learning or training programmes. We offer the young person a bespoke combination of learning and support, believing that, with support to overcome the challenges they experience on the way to independent adulthood, young people are capable of achieving great things.
We are recruiting for the key position of Head of Learning and Development to lead on the young person’s learning experience.
Recognising that learning through practice and reinforcement is meaningful and embedded, Calman Trust takes a ‘learn by doing’ approach. This applies from the earliest stages of the young person’s involvement with the organisation, through to their participation in real job roles in our Inverness social enterprise Café Artysans.
The HOLD will have responsibility for implementing the Calman model of learning and support, leading on the delivery of activity through which any young person coming through the organisation has opportunity to access learning and support tailored to their needs and capability. The purpose is that young people can reach their potential, with the ability and understanding to live more independently and progress towards further training, education or employment.
