Children 1st is Scotland’s National Children’s Charity. We help Scotland’s families to put children first, with practical advice and with support in difficult times. And when the worst happens, we support survivors of abuse, neglect, and other traumatic events in childhood, to recover.

We have an exciting opportunity to positively impact on the lives of children, young people and their families by working alongside them, building strong relationships empowering individuals to meet the various challenges they face.

Working as part of the Glasgow Supporting Families Team, you will support and deliver one to one, group and whole family support to children, young people and families. You will provide practical, social and emotional support to families to meet a wide range of need including social, emotional issues, nursery/school attendance, additional support needs, parental mental health and wellbeing, complex family relationships, problematic alcohol/drug use, poverty and housing issues or social isolation.

We are looking for someone who is committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for children, with experience of working alongside families with a range of complex needs, including child protection issues. You will be able to demonstrate an ability to use restorative and trauma-informed practice to get alongside children, young people and families. The successful candidate will be required to work closely with multi-agency partners, including Health and Social Work.

This is a part time post of 17.5 hours a week, we ask you to consider that often we require flexibility and that some evening and weekend working will be necessary in order to offer the appropriate level of support to individual families, at times that suit family life.

If you have experience of working with children and their families and have an SVQ level 3/HNC or equivalent in Child Care/Social Care or related area, accredited counselling qualification, or other relevant qualification at SCQF level 7 then.... we want to hear from you.
