This is an exciting opportunity be part of the Children 1st Edinburgh Family Wellbeing Service. We work alongside children, young people and their families, building strong and trusting relationships to ensure they are safe, secure and achieving at home, in school and included in the community.

As a member of the team, you will work alongside Firrhill High School, Longstone Primary School and Colinton Primary School to provide a dedicated support to children and young people from Armed Forces families. As a positive link between the school and children and families in the community, children’s attainment and wellbeing will be at the heart of everything you do.

The Covid-19 period has placed many additional challenges on families and this role will support the return to school by promoting the learning, engagement and participation of Armed Forces families in school and at home. To do this you will provide a range of one to one, group or family learning approaches in school and provide practical, social and emotional support for families in homes and the local community.

You will be able to demonstrate an ability to lead and deliver restorative and whole-family approaches to get alongside children, young people and families to improve attainment and learning. The successful candidate will be required to work in close partnership with school and other Armed Forces partners.

If you have experience of working with children and their families and have a professional qualification in a relevant area such as Social Work, Community Work Teaching, Child Care/Social Care or related area, accredited counselling qualification, or other relevant qualification at SCQF level 9 or higher then we want to hear from you.

This post is 35 hours per week and is initially funded until 31st June 2021 Hours to be worked flexibly to suit the needs of the service and the school (mornings, evenings and occasional weekends will be required).
