The Brock is a charity and social enterprise that provides constructive therapeutic work activities and facilitated
social integration for people with chronic mental health conditions. We focus on what people can do rather than
what they can’t. We offer stimulating opportunities to socialise and learn new skills in horticulture, woodwork
and a variety of crafts.
Our Vision: A society where every individual with a mental health condition feels included, supported and
valued.
Throughout the current pandemic, The Brock has continued to deliver support to people with chronic mental health
conditions in a variety of ways.
We are now seeking an energetic, empathetic and enthusiastic person to join our team. You’ll share our vision and
have the necessary skills to provide support through phone & online contact, garden visits etc –
specifically to our service users who are shielding and/or hesitant to attend The Brock due to the pandemic.
When appropriate, you will use the project vehicle to provide transport. Flexibility is key, and working hours
may vary depending on service users’ changing needs.
Our service users need you to be:
- a people
person
- kind-hearted
- caring
- helpful
- understanding
- easy-going
- consistent
- confident
- reliable
- have a sense of humour
- and above all you will have an in-depth understanding of the impact of living with a chronic mental health condition.
You will be joining the Brock at an exciting time as we develop as a social enterprise and expand our areas of
activity. There is significant opportunity for the post holder to work in a team of experienced facilitators to
support other enterprise initiatives that The Brock is delivering, and to use your imagination and creativity to
influence the direction of the organisation and its impact on service users.
Having the right mind-set, attitude and approach is as important to us as having the right experience and skills. We
are a young and growing organisation; a strong contribution may lead to further employment opportunity.
The successful applicant for this post will be required to apply for membership of the PVG (Protection of Vulnerable
Groups) Scheme.
This post is part funded by the Scottish Government Community Recovery Fund.
