Role

Rowan Alba is currently recruiting for a Wellbeing & Activities Coordinator for our new Thorntree Mill Service located in Craigmillar Edinburgh. Thorntree Mill is designed around the needs of its tenants and provides the highest level of care at home and housing support.

This is an exciting role to work as a dynamic and motivated Wellbeing & Activities Coordinator where you will help promote independence, dignity, and quality of life, always in a person centred caring and supportive environment. Understanding individual personalities, feelings, and lifestyle to enable us to provide each resident with personalised activities relating to their unique interests, making meaningful activity an essential part of care, so our tenants can live each day in the way they want.

You will be passionate about providing a varied 5-day programme of activities to stimulate and keep our tenants engaged, you will work in close conjunction with the support team, where you will build good relationships with the tenants and relatives.

The ideal candidate will have a creative flair, strong organisational skills, and the ability to relate well to people from all types of backgrounds. You will need to be sociable and able to communicate well with our residents and external activity providers. Previous experience in a similar role or environment would be beneficial and a robust induction will be given.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing stimulation and encouragement to tenants through entertainment, activities, and community links.
  • You will help our tenants maintain active and independent lives through the creation and delivery of individualised activity plans based on their interests, abilities, and life experience.
  • Coordinating a calendar of entertainment within Thorntree Mill for both indoor and outdoor activities.
  • To ensure a variety of daily activities suited to tenants’ lifestyles are taking place in-house throughout the day.
  • To formulate an activity profile for each individual tenant through liaison with support staff.
  • Build relationships with tenants, their friends and family members tailoring individual lifestyles.
  • Liaise with senior staff in respect of relative medical or care information regarding tenants.
  • Recruit and maintain volunteers.
  • Coordinate volunteers to deliver activities.
  • Guide and lead the volunteers and provide regular support and supervision.

Skills:

  • Previous experience of creating a 5-day programme from scratch and organising activities within a residential would be beneficial.
  • Understanding of the different types of activities tenants will enjoy.
  • Creative flair with a range of practical skills e.g., arts & crafts.
  • Ability to motivate and engage people with good negotiation skills.
  • Ability to plan a calendar of activities.
  • Able to create an environment where residents feel able to participate and contribute ideas.
  • Experience on leadership
