Glasgow South East Foodbank is looking for people with energy, enthusiasm and a commitment to ending poverty to join its board of trustees.

Our trustees play a vital role, overseeing the overall management and administration of this large and busy foodbank, and ensuring that everything it does is in line with our vision and ethos.

Trustees meet about 6 times a year at Glasgow Elim Church (the Foodbank’s distribution centre). There are also occasional strategy or training days, and trustees may be asked to provide ad hoc support to the management team.

This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

We are particularly interested in hearing from:

• people with recent experience of using a foodbank and/or managing a limited income
• people with secretarial expertise
• people with expertise in dealing with finance, particularly in relation to charities

Waverley Care are currently recruiting board members to join us as we embark on our new 5-year strategy. We are looking for people who can add their insight to the board across two broad categories, though you may bring experience in both.

Namely, these are: Bringing Lived Experience to our Decision Making

We are particularly keen to broaden the diversity of our board to include the voices of people from the communities we work with. These could include:

• People with lived experience of HIV or hepatitis C
• People from communities disproportionately affected by HIV
• Professionals with experience of working in the HIV sector or with communities who are affected by HIV

Widening Professional Knowledge

Equally, we are interested in hearing from people who can bring specific professional experience or qualifications in the following fields:

• Digital transformation
• Fundraising
• Marketing, Communications and PR
• Accountancy or commercial management

You will also share our values and believe passionately in supporting vulnerable people to overcome inequalities to improve their health and wellbeing and have a strong understanding of the challenges facing charities in Scotland.

Aberdeen Foyer is looking for a passionate, driven and creative individual to join us as a Fundraising Co-ordinator, supporting our Funding Manager. Working with colleagues across the Foyer you will engage, inspire, and collaborate with individuals, communities, and businesses to deliver fundraising initiatives and events to support achieving key fundraising targets.

You will be able to build positive relationships locally with individuals, businesses, groups, and associations and maintain these with thank you letters, updates, and invitations to events. You will be a compelling storyteller, able to motivate and influence others through presentations, conversations, and formal and informal written formats. You will understand the needs and motivations of fundraising volunteers and oversee volunteering opportunities for fundraising, and you will be able to track and report income for all fundraising activities. You will help us to increase our online presence and expand on our use of social media platforms to raise our profile within the community and meet our fundraising targets.

We are seeking someone who is passionate about the work of Aberdeen Foyer, our mission and our values and takes pride in delivering a great experience.

We would love if you can bring fundraising experience to the role, however we appreciate the role also may suit someone who is starting out in their career or wants to use their existing skills in a different way. The role will involve being present in the local area of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. We trust our staff to do the best job possible and so the role offers autonomy and an opportunity to be creative.

Mental Health Network (Greater Glasgow) is a network of people and their carers with a lived experience of mental health problems. We were established as an independent charity in 2001 and at present have over 800 members. We were set up by a group of people with a lived experience of mental ill health who wanted a greater say in how they were treated while using mental health services and how they could better shape these services for others in the future.

We enable participation of people with a lived experience of mental ill health to improve their treatment and support by enabling them to become involved in the strategic planning and evaluation of mental health services in the Greater Glasgow & Clyde NHS area. We also engage directly with people currently receiving treatment and support for their mental ill health and their carers in order to allow them to comment on such services.

The Role

Our Trustees are responsible for:

• Setting strategic direction.
• Providing leadership to staff and volunteers.
• Ensuring effective governance, including financial and risk management, and compliance with relevant legislation and good practice.

Mental Health Network Greater Glasgow is seeking to strengthen its skill set on the Board. To this end we are seeking new Trustees. We are particularly looking for individuals with skills and experience in the following areas:

• Human Resources
• Fundraising
• Communications
• Member engagement

This is a voluntary, unpaid position. The Board currently meets eight times per year, with additional subgroups meeting in between. The majority of board meetings take place face-to-face in the evenings in the Network’s office. Trustees are actively engaged in meetings, contributing ideas and sharing knowledge. We’ll provide full training and support so no previous Board experience is necessary.
