The Role

We are looking for a Support & Communications Manager to head our Support & Information team and lead the provision of comprehensive information and support to families and professionals through communications, resources, and Helpline services.

Our Support & Communications Manager will:

• Deliver a comprehensive multi–platform information and communications service for families affected by imprisonment

• Manage the provision of a comprehensive information and support service for families, and for professionals working with families

• Lead on the development and implementation of an effective Communications Strategy in line with our overall strategic aims

About You

We are looking for an individual who is:

• Able to lead effective communications strategies which across a range of social media and other digital platforms

• Experienced in and understands website and social media development and management

• Experienced in delivering a service to users within a support environment

• In possession of strong leadership skills, including performance management, training, and team development

• Knowledgeable about the criminal justice system would be desirable

• Understanding of, and able to demonstrate, a commitment to the aims and values of Families Outside

Families Outside is the only national charity in Scotland that works solely to support families affected by imprisonment. Imprisonment can often have a huge impact on the things that matter most to families: money and secure housing, safe and connected relationships at home and in the community, and the emotional health and wellbeing of families. Families Outside is dedicated to providing a range of practical, social, and emotional support to people with someone in prison that are relationship-based, prison-aware, and family-focused.

Our Team

Cash for Kids is the umbrella brand for 22 local children’s charities in the UK. Owned by Bauer Media, we are aligned to the Bauer Radio local radio stations. Radio Forth’s Cash for Kids is a grant-giving charity helping the children that need it most across Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife and Falkirk.

Our mission is to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in our communities who are affected by poverty, illness, neglect or have additional needs. We believe that all children should be able to express their individuality, achieve their potential and live life to the full. We work with grassroots organisations that aim to make a difference to young lives, directly supporting families who often have nowhere else to go.

Reporting to the Charity Manager you will be working in the lively and stimulating atmosphere of a busy radio station.

The Role

We are looking for an ambitious self-starter who can communicate with people at all levels and has proven experience in digital fundraising. You should have excellent sales, marketing and presentation skills. The ideal candidate will have experience in building corporate and community relationships and be able to demonstrate how their skills will be beneficial to the charity. You must be passionate about making a difference for local kids who need our help. You will be required to establish relationships with all key stakeholders both internally and externally.

Networking will be a major part of this role in order to recruit companies to adopt Cash for Kids.

Role Responsibility

• Be responsible for your own set of KPI’s and delivering challenging financial targets.
• Assist the Charity Manager to reach agreed business plan targets.
• Develop sustainable partnerships with local businesses, large corporates and high net worth individuals. Identify and develop new fundraising opportunities and areas of potential support.
• Assist in the planning and implementation of campaigns and events.
• Deliver on and off air Cash for Kids activities and events.
• Attend events and support with event coordination.
• Assist with grant applications
• Ensure all funds and expenditure are properly accounted for and accurately recorded.
• Be the lead on digital fundraising and marketing while keeping updated with new practices and trends.
• Provide client management and project co-ordination with colleagues.

The Ideal Candidate

• Organised, accurate and thorough with excellent communication skills, both verbal & written
• Proven track record in a sales/corporate environment and ability to collaborate with key stakeholders.
• Achieve agreed fundraising targets whilst prioritising work effectively with maximum impact on cash growth.
• Have a solid knowledge of all modern social media networking tools and able to use them effectively, together with experience using Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook & presentation systems.
• develop good working relationships with the charity team, wider radio station teams and national charity team.
• Good administration, presentation and sales skills are essential.
• Have a passion and vision to develop this role.
• Marketing/sales/skills/fundraising and or event management.
• Demonstrate a proven track record and experience of building, developing and managing key relationships.
• A proven experience of working with media to promote the appeal and its fundraising initiatives.
• Good network of contacts.

About Aberlour Dundee Services

Aberlour have 3 services located based within Dundee City. This post will be managing these services to ensure they reach their full potential.

Aberlour Outreach Dundee helps children and families who are struggling to cope because of drug and alcohol use in the family. We work with whole families as well as children on their own and will work with children from birth. We give children a trusted person they can talk to. Our family workers will adapt the support plan to meet the individual needs of children and families. We will participate in all meetings that support planning for a child and their family, to make sure the family is getting support across the board. We also work with parents in their own homes, to help them create a safe environment for their children.

Aberlour Options Dundee provides care at home and/or outreach services for families who have a child or young person with complex physical and/or learning disability including autism. Options Dundee also works with parents with learning disabilities to increase and maintain parenting capacity and support families to stay together. We support community connections for families and work with partner agencies to ensure the family’s needs are met.

Aberlour Right Here Right Now helps families address problems before they become overwhelming. They deliver health and wellbeing support for children within the school environment as well as offering outreach support to families. We work in partnership with Dundee City Council schools to ensure the effective implementation of both individual and group programmes of support designed to promote children’s wellbeing and attainment.

What we are looking for....

As Service Manager you will lead, manage, and develop services for children, young people, and families in line with service objectives and Aberlour’s strategic planning framework. You will be responsible for the development and delivery of the service, working collaboratively with families, community partners and our Local Authority colleagues.

You will have demonstrable experience of empowering, working, and engaging with young people and their families to achieve positive outcomes. You will have previous managerial

experience, preferably within a childcare organisation, an ability to motivate, support and supervise others and you will possess effective planning and organisational skills.

You will have a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 9 or above, plus a management qualification at SCQF level 8 or above, or equivalent knowledge acquired by other means. You are required to be registered with the SSSC and hold or be willing to work towards relevant professional qualifications to meet SSSC registration requirements.
